People are making it seem like we would keep some horrible player that just kills the game. Deng without question is top 5 at his position on both ends.

Most peoples single problem is he doesn't score they way they want him to. That's it.

But yet even though he doesn't score that way, he still ends up scoring doesn't he?

But like most have said, if we have an actual strategy with this, I am fine.

But don't end next year with Gar saying, we wanted to resign Deng but his asking price would have put a damper on our flexibility. - i.e. the Asik speech

That's what I'm afraid will happen. Depending on how this off season goes (if Lebron stays in Miami and Melo in New York) then Deng would be the best small forward free agent available with multiple teams looking to improve that position. I like Deng but if GarPax can't come to a verbal agreement with him about his next contract by the trade deadline they should trade him.

This just tells me that Paxson won't get compensation for Deng.

My god, what a clown.

I think sometimes we underestimate how much Rose and Thibs have shielded GarPax from looking grossly incompetent.

I nominate this as the post of the year!!!!! Also should be a sticky for ppl to look at every time we talk about the F/O.
KC: Do you still think you're a championship-caliber team?
Gar: I never said that and correct me if I'm wrong.
KC: You were asked that question at the news conference announcing Thibodeau's dismissal and you answered yes

I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see the Bulls wanting all these draft picks. You already see that Thibodeau doesn't play rookies much (Snell, Butler, Teague and Murphy for obvious reasons). We're already possibly looking at 3 draft picks next year in the top 40, and that's without any future trades.

Let's say we get a mid to late 1st for Deng and maybe a 2nd for Dunleavy. You can't tell me you expect Tom Thibodeau to play up to 5 rookies. Of course, we could always draft and stash Euros.

Trade Deng for a 1st. After the Wolves miss the playoffs this season, trade Boozer's expiring, Mirotic, and either the Charlotte 1st or the 1st we get for Deng for Kevin Love. Role with this next season:

PG-Rose
SG-?
SF-Butler
PF-Love
C-Noah

Bench-Snell, Dunleavy, Gibson. Additional assets include the MLE, our own 1st, and another teams 1st.

What possible reason could there be for a trade not to be completed until January? I call bull **** (on Schanowski's rumor not on you.)

I would assume that because at least one of the players involved in the trade (currently unmentioned/unknown) was newly signed using Bird or Early Bird rights.

I'm not seeing it. Dec 15th was the date for players signed this off season, so you're basically looking at players signed as free agents in November? Find me a player that's was signed as a free agent after the season began that is worth holding up a trade for?

I think there was one trade earlier this year:
Suns get:
F/C Emeka Okafor
2014 protected first-round pick
Wizards get
F/C Marcin Gortat
G Kendall Marshall
G Shannon Brown
G Malcolm Lee

Emeka Okafor is holding up a deal? What are the chances that they're waiting on him verses the possibility that Schanowski is just wrong? I'm thinking the latter is relatively likely.

Per the Coon FAQ - For three months or until January 15 of that season (whichever is later) after re-signing a free agent with Larry Bird or Early Bird rights, if the team is over the cap, the player's prior salary was above the minimum, and he receives a raise greater than 20%.

I wasn't aware of that provision but, regardless, it doesn't apply to anyone on the Bulls or Phoenix. You're talking primarily about players who are in their first year after their rookie scale contracts.

We need to make this a billboard. I'd be willing to fork over some dough to make this happen...it would really put the FO's feet to the coals. Someone has to keep them accountable.

In all fairness, it's not the easiest to acquire a superstar. But yes, he is wrong about that. Gar should have never said that, since he failed to fulfill his promise.

How many championship banners did Deng help raise in the United Center? yep "0". Seriously this is really annoying on the Bulls part to not want to make this team better, Indiana is in a position to win an NBA title and Miami is the team to beat period and that's just the East.

Paxson has this weird emotion for his players. his feelings of love will continue to destroy this team.

KC just posted a story in the Tribute confirming this. Says the Bulls prefer to keep Deng and will not just dump him for salary reasons.

Also said any offers the Bulls have received are underwhelming.

I posted in the tank thread that, imo, the best scenario would be tanking and keeping deng and if this article is true then it looks like that's what's happening. Hopefully Deng will accept a more reasonable deal than 14 or 15 million a year so we can sign Butler.

Rose/Kirk/Augustín
Butler/Snell
Deng/Lottery pick
Mirotic/Taj
Noah/CHA pick

People say that Rose don't know how a team is run

I counter with GarPax

Sad thing is that only one is suppose to know how to

Losing Deng for nothing is the worst outcome. Second is overpaying. How come I feel like these are only two options.

I was thinking that we'll wait until after the draft before we decide on Deng? Let's say we end up with a top 5 pick and that guy is a SF.......why would we then spend a boatload of money on Lou then?
