Maybe, but the Rockets are looking for a pick, and we have all of the Nets' picks until the end of time.

Houston had preliminary talks with the Nets involving Omer Asik as well as Jeremy Lin, a source tells Ohm Youngmisuk of ESPNNewYork.com. Youngmisuk describes the conversations as due diligence on the part of the Rockets, and apparently Houston asked for Deron Williams in return.

I would not offer up Crawford. Let them try making Lee a PG. Stick with Lee/Bass and the Clips pick.

Asik has value but generally I don't like paying too much for no offense centers. You can generally find vet PF-C's who can defend and rebound for cheap. Guys like Chris Anderson, Nick Collison, etc.
If you can get that guy for Bass/Lee and one of your lesser firsts, sweet. If you're giving up a potential SMOTY type talent and killing your cap... Not so much.

But they can't get Asik for Bass/Lee and pick, and Asik >>> Anderson, Collison, etc... Hence why GM's are willing to spend 3 times as much on Asik..

Well if Ainge thought as highly of the guy he'd already be in Green and White. As it stands it seems quite clear that there is a vast divide between what Morey and his fellow GM's think Asik is worth.
Personally, I think he's worth two role players, similar salary commitments and a low value first. I wouldn't spend a cent more than that as it's quite possible you could draft a cost controlled defensive C like Cauley-Stein for pennies of what Asik is making while keeping Crawford, who's a more valuable asset than people give him credit for.

Ainge rightfully isn't going to give up Green & pick, but I bet he'd gladly deal Morey Bass, Crawford & a pick.
In regard to Cauley Stein, he could be long gone by the time Boston picks.. This draft doesn't have many centers.

I bet you Crawford won't be traded. There is no reason to when it's unlikely he's going to get paid a ton as a RFA. He has a game tailor made to complement both Rondo and Bradley. He's also young and low cost scoring is hard to find.

If a late 1st is all a team offer, he probably won't get dealt.. If Asik is offered, he's gone.

I think you're clearly overrating Asik. Not that valuable.
