JR to Portland makes too much sense.

Sure it does. They need bench scoring. Their bench lineup is Mo Williams - Dorrell Wright - Thomas Robinson - Joel Freeland. JR for 15 minutes per game spoting up would be ideal for them.

they need bench scoring, not an inconsistent bench player.

JR would be the last player they'd trade for,

They can't get two rotation players for one anywhere else and he's just fine when there's an established system with him being at the bottom of the food chain.

He's not inconsistent at all when it comes to spotting up, he's 17th best in the league and they can get him a ton of open looks. They just can't have him handle the ball.

JR is a better spot up shooter than anyone in their current rotation, why would they give those minutes to an unproven rookie if they're trying to contend?

Why would a contender trade for an inconsistent idiot?

Crabbe can play, they dont need him right now.

#1 ranked offense and ppg? No need for JR Brick.

Speaking of rooks, are you aware how many 1 year players they have? alot.

they'll never allow JR to taint their youngins.

You keep harping on about him being inconsistent and yet he's a better spot up shooter than anyone on their already lights out shooting roster. He'd be great backing up Wesley Matthews. If they had any intention playing Crabbe, they'd do it by now.

Mo Williams has that covered.

I agree with you quite a bit, but no way the #1 offense in the NBA is hurting for JR Smith.

thats like the Bulls trading for Bargs for his man defense.

Get off with the one thing JR can do when you know everything else cancels that out.

That's where you're wrong. Mo Williams scores 9 points per game. Even while having the #1 offense, their bench scores the 4th least points per game and has a net negative rating. That's what separates them from contenders like OKC, Miami and San Antonio who have the best bench net ratings in the league.

They also have a front office that's high on advanced stats, that's why they drafted Lillard. They know what JR is good at and they'd fit him in their system easily. Terry Stotts isn't a dumbass that will let him dribble the ball and shoot fadeaways.

they arent letting JR near those kids.

I specifically mentioned Mo because he could score more himself, but he's bought in to helping facilitate and he plays very well for them as do everyone on the team including Crabbe who shoots 50% himself in little action.

They dont need JR regardless of how weak their bench might be, they should score less when their starters are getting the job done.

You'll see how wrong you are in the playoffs when OKC and San Antonio destroy them with their bench if they even get that far.

Their board agrees with my line of thinking:

I think it'll just be a game by game thing of who gets minutes between Leonard and TRob. Ideally, I'd love to see both traded for a vet right now. As much of a TRob support as I am, this team needs more consistent production off that bench and they don't have the time to be developing young guys right now. When you got a special season like this is shaping up to be, I believe you have to do everything in your power to take advantage of it and give yourself the best chance to win. - See more at: viewtopic.php?f=28&t=1292326&view=unread#unread

Those teams would likely win because they are better and more experienced.

I'm sure the few fans over there dont have team inputs, and it does say a vet...not JR Smith... no different than us, but why not stroll over there ask them would they like JR smith in the package you offered.

I'd be interested in reading it.

Don't forget that Portland has CJ McCollum coming back soon. He will give them some scoring off the bench.

They'll give the same stereotypical "JR is a selfish headcase" response and fail to realize that he's a good player in a proper system that forces him to focus on his strengths.

Meyers Leonard and Allen Crabbe for Cole Aldrich and Iman Shumpert?

They get a decent bench piece in Shumpert who needs a new team and we get a lesser player, but with higher upside in Crabbe. Leonard for Cole is a simple swap, but I'd be more than willing to include Kenyon Martin in his place. I just want to see some youth.

There's a couple of posters on the Wolves board who would like to get JR in a trade. So his value is not all that low as Thugger makes it out to be.
