nice day today standings wise - almost everyone we care about lost and
we won. We're 4th in the EC in the loss column and 5th seed only because
the Atlantic div leader is seeded 4th.

Even with D-rose, the bulls weren't performing amazingly.

Bill Simmons and Zach Lowe discussed this in a recent podcast. Thibs has the Bulls playing an extremely physically and mentally demanding style of basketball. He got the team to buy in last year because there was hope that Rose would come back in time for the playoffs to give them a shot at a title. But that was then, this is now. After a grueling grind last year, the team is drained. Furthermore, with Rose now out for the season, there really isn't any hope for playoff success. Also, the team last year at least had an instant offense closer in Nate Robinson who could win them some games. Now, they have to win every game 88-84. It's just too hard.
Zach Lowe expects a pretty big dropoff this year. The Bulls might even think about blowing things up - dumping Boozer and Deng and trying to reload against around Rose, Butler and Noah.

CHA just lost Jeff Taylor who had filled in for injured MKG.
Being down to their 3rd string SF isn't going to help them.
Kemba can carry them some nights but will shoot them
out of games on other nights.

Speaking of the Bulls.. Kyrie Irving was outplayed quite thoroughly by DJ Augustin last night (and eventually benched by Mike Brown), and funny enough that 'Sonny Carson' character was nowhere to be found.

Also, when Rose played, he was terrible. Bad shooting, rampant turnovers, crummy defense.

Granger really looks healthy.. Indiana could be the most complete team if he stays that way and does his thing shooting and playing defense
Stephenson had his 3rd triple double of the year too.

I'm pretty sure all of his triple doubles have come in blowouts, with Vogel leaving him in against bench players. Good player but an idiot
Kevin Love is damn beast on offense. Inside, outside, wherever.
If he could just improve his defense he'd be the best PF of this era.

Holy crap. Pekovic has 34 points and 14 boards and his stat line still looks pedestrian because Love has 45 points 18 boards and 6 assists!

And they still lost. Ouch
Yeah, Nikola Pekovic was a player I wished we could have picked up when he was coming free He is huge.
6' 11", 285 and only 27

He is putting together a nice run.

Looking at those stat lines, I'm surprised that Minnesota lost - even if it was an OT game against the Clippers. Rubio had 0 points in 38 minutes- although I guess he had 12 assists. What kind of contract do you think Rubio will command in the offseason/once he returns?

I wouldn't even sign him, but it depends on if any GM's use Pif stats. If they do, he'll get way overpaid.

Funny you mention that b/c he's probably going to get the 5 year contract Love should have gotten. Kahn!

Yes. Because clearly, Rubio is better than Wall, and since Wall earned the max, Rubio does too. Oh yeah, and Booker should be paid more than Gortat this offseason. It's science.

Looks like the Mop is dusting off the rust.
Varejao grabbed a career-high 25 rebounds to go along with 18 points (8-17 FG, 2-4 FT) and three assists in the overtime win against Orlando on Thursday. He played 39 minutes.

Knicks beat Spurs on the road, Nets beat Thunder on the road, Warriors beat Heat on the road, Grizzlies beat Suns on the road. Bobcats? Well, they're trailing the Blazers on the road, 82-58, but it's only the 3rd quarter. That's the Cats' version of "hanging around."

Man, Cousins is going to start to take over. I've seen him play a little here and there is he is just going right at the basket like Shaq used to. And you can't stop him. Getting to the line at an alarming rate.
17 FTA against NO
15 FTA against Philly so far. And they haven't started the 4th quarter yet ?
And he is only 23. Just starting to mature. Next thing for him to focus on is his defense. He need to become a defensive anchor game changer.
There are some big boys in the league now. Pek, Cousins. Hibbert.
