it bothers me a little that DLaren is keep referring the clippers and its fans as "we" because it is hard for me to think that this guy is actually a clipper fan. for one, he has nearly 300 posts and i can't seem to remember him ever posting around here at all. maybe a lakers fan? secondly, PC3 is a ball dominant player, and so is Melo. there is only 1 ball to go around. lastly, Melo is playing out of his position at PF, with DJ as our only true big, we have... hollins to back up? and matt barnes is our permanent backup PF? he is not even a big. we would get killed in games where DJ is either tired or in foul trouble in terms of rebounds and interior defense... and i am not even sure we are good as is. we need more and better bigs off the bench, not less.
ehhhhh f it.

Here's another reason why I wouldn't trade DJ for Drummond, DJ does have post season experience. They are similar players but DJ has more experience and at least knows what the post season is like. So I wouldn't see any reason for us to make that trade right now. Plus I think DJ is in the early running for Defensive Player of the year and I don't think Drummond is at this point.

NVM about Drummond not being in the running for DPOY. Drummond does have the numbers, but defensively DJ has slightly better numbers.

I'm sure Drummond can win DPOY at some point but I'm not sure it will be this season.

I'll vouch for DLaren as a Clippers fan, he mostly posts on GB.

Gentlemen, my participation in this discussion has run its course as I have exhausted all of my arguments; most of you disagree, and that's fine.

I have nothing against Blake, I only singled him out because his name was in the title of this thread...I'd literally trade anyone on this team not named Chris Paul to get Melo in a Clippers jersey; I'd even include Doc in a package.

CP3 + Melo + decent pieces = Rings...you'll never convince me otherwise.

But since getting Melo on this roster was a pipe-dream from the start, I'll just keep rooting for the guys that we have and hoping for the best...like I always have.

i do agree that Melo is the better, more complete offensive player right now. and his PER proves that. but not by much... but blake is 24. melo will turn 30 before the NBA finals this year. 6 years is a big gap for not only talent-wise to develop but for the cap room too. Melo at 24, his best PER in his career until then was 22.1. blake has already surpassed that at 23.4. i think blake's ceiling is much higher, and even tho i tend to agree with you and others who thinks CP3's window is smaller than others with his prior knee injury, i do think he can play at a high level until blake reaches that peak where he can lead the league in scoring.

now you may say i am dreaming, but i do think that blake has the potential to be a 30-12-5 guy in this league. those are points-rebounds-assist and a shoe in as a league MVP, whenever that maybe. once he gets his mid range jumper down and return to his aggressive nature of rebounding and get wiser to use the other team's focus on him to make that outlet pass, he will become that HOF type player that can lead us to the promise land.

hey i maybe a dogmatic "Morphius" type who follows this franchise with a blind faith for the last 23 years or so, but ever since i became a diehard clippers fan at 15( i still own a ron harper jersey from back in the day and i am wearing it as i type), during those dark and gloomy sports arena days, i have learned to be patient with this franchise, and they have rewarded me with fruits beyond my expectation. i think if you stick with this franchise for the next 4-5 years more, i believe that your passion and obsession for this team will pay off. our first championship banner isn't a decade long away, even if that is without your Melo in the picture. 8-)

plus, i expect DJ to become somewhat close to what dikembe mutumbo was back in the day as we draw close to the playoffs, say 75% efficient to the finger waving master of interior defense, and once JJ returns at full health and have barnes still healthy while the rookie reggie is also 100%, we are just 1 legit backup big away from being a real contender for the NBA championship banner this year. if blake does develop further in say, 2 more years, we have the next 3 years of window to win it all even with CP3's shaky knees.

All good Neddy.

DLaren fights the good fight on the GB, and has stuck up for the team in clipper bashing threads that I've restrained myself from posting in, else I'll be banned for calling guys (Please Use More Appropriate Word) **** ****.

It is nice to have a differing opinion too, as a group on here we all tend to agree on a lot of things, so the occasional variant is good for viewing it from a different angle (even if I disagree with it) ;)

after last night's front court fiasco vs klove and pek, i am still 100% disagreement with melo for bg. yes, melo would have probably scored 'way more' to keep us in, but klove/pek would probably have gotten double theirs also. in a 7 game series vs minny, i don't see us winning that without bg.
