There is no reason for him to be this bad i mean how zero point, assist, and zero rebounds games does this guy going to have he not even trying right now. There lot guys in trade rumors such as affolo, glen davis, jameer nelson, thadeus young, even turner, spencer hawnes, luol deng, kyle lowry, deon waiters, omer asik and demar derzen they are playing there game and not playing like dog crap like he is. Most disappointing thing is his effort like dude doesn't even care.

Shump is a young player that is shook right now. Not the first. Won't be the last. He will snap out of it.

How soon we forget that he was our best players vs. the Pacers. The board may have forgotten but execs around the league have not.

Shumpert is a starter in this league and nothing more. He can do a little bit of everything (plays defense, score on fast break, shoot 3's/mid range, rebounds, assists, steals) which is a valuable player to have on a good team like last years. Every good team needs a shumpert bc he's a wild card can affect a game in a number of ways. Right now our team sucks and shump is not playing well so everyone is turning on him. The season is not even a third way done yet so give him a chance to get his act together and just don't expect him to be an all star

As of right now, I'm not even sure his play warrants 2nd string. Take away his name and use a random name with his numbers and people would think the player is garbage. There was so much belief in how good he can be and maybe he still can. But, fact remains that he's one of the most disgusting starters in the league right now. It's not even surprising when he only score 4 points anymore. Even the Spurs expected Bruce Bowen to score more than that and Bruce Bowen was terrible offensively.

The problem is basically he is playing below his ability and it is hurting his value. We all saw him last post-season. We know he can defend, make open shots, at worst he should be like Bruce Bowen.

What's funny is that on the Raptors board people are thinking that losing makes the Knicks more desperate while you bring up the idea that winning makes the Raptors more desperate. As the wins mount for the Raptors and the losses mount for the Knicks, each fan base is slowly embracing competing (raptors) and rebuilding (knicks).

As a raptor's fan I have no problem them not trading Kyle Lowry for pennies on the dollar and role with the squad the have and still be in contention for being the best in this god awful Atlantic Division. At the worst they fall off, place 9th and miss the playoffs, and get a middling pick in the deepest and best draft in a decade. At best they make the playoffs and hopefully place something better then 8th and give whoever the play in the 1st round a run for their money and gain valuable experience.

I'm not sure what the Knicks have for picks going forward, but I am assuming that the Knicks 1st rounder this year has long since been traded away. Worst case scenario is that the Knicks flatline, get a high lottery pick only to see another team using it - thus doing nothing for a Knicks rebuild.

In terms of worst case scenario's, the Knicks have it much worse.

Is the bamboozlement as bad Fields?

I'm not certain what the question is stating, but I will try to answer. I think Fields decline is more easy to accept because he was and is just a unassuming nerd who was good at basketball. I don't think basketball was ever his real passion and once he made the league and got his big contract then he would become a fat rat with all his cheese.

Shump on the other hand went through a series of interviews where I started to actually believe that one day he would be picking opposing players apart one by one. When Jeremy Lin, Novak, and Iman were on that talk show and during every interview even the one he did this year with the gold grill, I secretly thought he would eventually turn it on and break out. Just the way he carried himself gave me hope that we got a real steal with the Shumpert pick. All those good feelings were squashed after his 0-0-0-0 stat line. Now I just think he needs to go to a team and start over if that is possible.

Said it once, said it many times - he talks the talk a lot, has rarely walked the walk.

Peoples' memory of Shump's performance in that series is EXTREMELY skewed by an incredible 2 MINUTE stretch he had to get us back into game 6 (which we ultimately lost anyway).

There was absolutely nothing exceptional about Shump in that series. He had 2 good games and 4 sh*tty ones. He had 9.7ppg on 38% shooting, which are right around his career averages.

And just like that, the lead has been cut to 8!

kinda true. everybody remembers him barking and hitting 3s in that one quarter. they forget he had david west covering him most of the series and couldn't take advantage.

I do feel like Woodson screwed up Shump's development.

And I think Shump is sandbagging. The last game they announced he was lifting weights before the game - HARD. And then he came out and clanked everything in shoot around.

What's that all about?

I keep hear people saying that Woodson has screwed up Shump's development. I would like to ask those people exactly how are they coming to that conclusion. From my point of view the only person who is messing up Shump's development is Shump.

Mike Woodson and the coaching staff wanted Shump pushing the point guard position in Summer League, but Shump left after just one game. Mike Woodson continues to give him minutes and start him, even though his production has taken a uncanny nose dive. I think Coach Woodson is trying to put him in positions to succeed, but the kid is not producing. Is this Woodson's falult?

I can't fathom how people are coming to that conclusion. In the NBA it's up to the player to work harder on all aspects of their game from ball handling to shooting to playing Defense. Shump has regressed in all areas of the game.

I just don't see how his game is developed and that's the responsibility of the coaching staff (along with Iman's). I'm not saying that they've treated him any better or worse than other people on the team. I just don't think they are good at developing players.

Look at the Pacers - I don't think PG gets to where he is without the organization. Or if you take a Kawai Leonard and put him on the Knicks I don't see him being the player he is today either.

player development happens mostly in the summer when there's time for you to concentrate on improving something. but it's still up to the player to put in the work. if you remember the team wasn't thrilled with shumpert in the summer because of this. how can you blame them ?

It's really hard for me to swallow that excuse because Woodson had nothing but young guys in Atlanta and they all developed quite well. If you look at Woodson's track record as a coach you just can't say he's not good at developing players because that's just not true. Iman Shumpert is the only real rookie that Woodson has gotten a chance to work with in NY and now it's THJ. What other rookies has he worked with in NY that he could of possibly developed?

Who are you talking about? Josh Smith? Do you think he's been developed into a player that's inline with his talent level?

This coach wants vets over youth. Isn't that obvious? I think he is only playing Tim Hardaway because his forced to by the fact that JR and Iman have sucked so bad. But he still isn't ready to say hey you've won the spot because of what you're doing. And he keeps going back to his vet no matter how bad he plays i.e. 17 3s in one game.
Play time is over.
