Not sure where you stood (I think the same as me) but I leaned towards moving Noah for Aldridge. I've always felt if you could get a good offensive talent for Noah you do it.

I leaned towards wanting to do a Aldridge-for-Noah swap 1/1. I just remember there was a sizeable group saying Noah was a better player than Aldridge and wondering if Aldridge would even be that much of an upgrade over Boozer. :-? In general, the thread criminally underrated Aldridge.

Fast forward to present day and Aldridge is an MVP candidate for a 23-5 Blazers squad.

i didnt want to give up noah because that left us with a huge hole at center and i wasn't confident that Aldridge would be enough to beat miami

but i guess we shoulda pulled the trigger...ive softened up allot on trading noah but now its probably too late

i basically did what i criticize paxson for and i hate myself for it

but im just a fan...Paxson shoulda known better

I'd be shocked if this one doesn't go at least 7-8 pages with a bunch of rehashing of old opinions. It'll get ugly before it's done.

I love that Aldridge is going to get a lot of the credit for Portland's great start when he's been a very similar player to what his career numbers suggest. The Blazers are getting amazing contributions from Matthews and Batum that they didn't get last year plus everything Robin Lopez has been compared to what they got from Hickson.

I would have loved Aldridge but the cost was high in that Noah+Butler+less likely to get Mirotic. I don't really fault the Bulls for not pulling that trigger, Aldridge would look great here, but Boozer was giving you 16-9 on .556 TS% with Rose and the offense still had problems. Maybe the offense would be better with Taj/Aldridge at the 5, but then you worry about your defense.

absolutely. that lamarcus aldridge is suddenly being talked about as one of the best players in the league is laughable. he's still primarily a jumpshooter and is having the worst shooting season of his eight year career

we already have 3 power forwards either here or in the pipeline. at no point did it make sense to trade for aldridge. still doesn't

I'm still not sold on Aldridge. His efficiency is quite low (.515 TS%). I think that Lillard has been just as important to the Blazers, not to mention the fact that they are shooting over 40% from 3 as a team. Aldridge might be better than Noah, but probably not by much.

My stance was that trading Noah would leave us with no one to player center and that Aldridge was not a good enough to player to cover for that hole we would create. And it's still debatable that he actually is.
Like Dantown said, Aldridge is producing number's similar to his recent years in the league. Matthews, Batum's and Lillards improvements have also heavily contributed to the Blazers great season thus far.

Also the rumor was that Jimmy Butler would have had to be included, so that would have left two holes in our starting lineup.

they probably wanted mirotic's rights as well.. we just don't know. and it would also be a slap on the face on pax when we could have had him. hopefully that cat's pick would turn out to be a stud.

I mean, I understand why some didn't want to give Noah and Butler and we all know Aldridge is bound for regression.

But guys like Aldridge are tough to get, and while Noah is fine, he can't ever be a second or third scoring option and a couple years ago Asik was the better defender and finishing games.

I think Noah can't be moved for good, good talent at the point IMO. Moving him wasn't some priority but the Bulls should have jumped at the chance to upgrade the offensive side of the ball. It is what it is.

Butler's inclusion was an assumption by K.C.. Even if it wasn't, you don't think Butler/Noah for a Top 3 PF is a good enough deal?

I mean, I always preferred Love over Aldridge, but still. I think we're overrating the value of some of our guys. I like Butler, but to this point he's pretty much an average rotation player. He's not irreplaceable.
