Rubio might be the worst scoring PG in the NBA. Dude went 0'fer against the clips. He's a good game manager but man is he a liability in end game situations.

But, but, but....he's better than Wall according to per 36 numbers.

Wolves are very good. I think some are hard on them but you have to remember they are in the West. They would be a 3 seed in the East right now. With that being said, when healthy I think we would be a 3 seed even with the Wolves in the East.
I love games like this. Its probably my favorite games. Its us versus a great Offensive team who isnt great on D and doesnt have an interior stopper. As great as Love & Pek are, they wont stop anyone. Wall can go off and so should the rest of our O. I think this would normally 10 times out of 10 be a high scoring up & down game. IDK if it will play out this way due to both teams coming off a long rest and Christmas. Could make them rested and more explosive or it could make them rusty.
I know one thing, we had long rest before the home game against the Bucks after winning 4 straight and getting to .500 but still came out the gate with no energy. Had long rest before this C's game but still came out the gate with no energy. We better come out fast & strong.
I just love the matchups though. Wall vs Rubio, Martin vs Beal, Ariza vs Brewer, Nene vs Love, Pek vs Gortat. The funny thing is that we actually have a bench now and I think that could be the difference. I could see Webster going off against his former team, Seraphin matching up well with Pek, and maybe even going small in the 4th with Ariza & Web at the 4. Yes Ariza vs Love.....lol
All in all I think the backcourt will win it. Beal should play better and I just see a joyful determination in Wall's eyez that Ive never seen before. You can tell he's just loving playing basketball right now. He's not going to let us lose a fast paced game to nearly anyone right now and definitely not to a quote on quote rival in Rubio

What I'd do to get Kevin Love here.

I've been fantasizing about the same thing lately. Even Wolves fans will admit that there's basically no chance he stays in Minnesota with how the franchise has mistreated him.
Love is destroying nightly against double and triple-teams (because teams don't bother guarding Rubio and/or Brewer). Imagine what he'd do in Washington with a superior point guard and upgraded shooters. He's exactly the #1 option Washington needs next to Wall.
And the guy is just 25 years old. Wizards with Love/Wall (I would give up Beal for him), a defensive C, and shooters would be contenders in the East for years. Especially after Miami breaks up and Indiana can no longer pay all their guys.
Granted, it seem likely that he ends up with the Lakers. He has LA ties and I really don't see him turning down the chance to be a superstar in a major market.
But I wonder if he'd be enticed by the prospect of an easier road to the Finals by coming out East.

^^^ I dunno about that. I'd give up everything outside of Wall and Beal. I love Love (lol) but not that much.

Yeah I had a feeling. I was hoping he wouldn't fall to #5 so we'd have an excuse to take Stef Curry.

How will you evaluate this match-up? Who shoots better in warm-ups? Who does better waving a towel from the bench?
montestewart wrote:PS: I'll also be comparing Miller's and Foye's lines with Rubio's line, to see who won that trade.
My first thought was that EG won, since he still has a job. However I think Mike Miller was the biggest winner. It allowed him to audition for a contract with the Heat and get 2 championship rings.

Do we need a thread trashing Minnesota like we have for OKC?

In my mind from the Wizards point of view, the deal was Curry for Miller/Foye. With the win-now mandate Curry was really the only option, and would have been the most help.

I really want to note this but I don't think Mil is as bad as their record. I belive this game is when we lost Webster and Nene to injuries "already playing without Beal" already shorthanded Wizards are not that good just to think they can win games when the (this) bench is getting plenty minutes, heck Singleton was 1-10 that game took the last shot before overtime

If we were to go after Love, we need to have a defensive center next to him.

Minnesota brags about its "Land of 10,000 Lakes" yet, embarrassingly for them, smaller next-door-neighbor Wisconsin has more than 15,000 lakes, and the Lakers moved to the land of saltwater, tar pits, dry lake beds, and swimming pools.
Minnesota's most famous export is a stick of butter. They may as well last tango themselves right out of the NBA (again)!

Love and Pekovic are likely to brutalize Booker and Gortat. Nene is on a minutes restriction.
Brewer is long and will run Trevor A down in the corner. That mean Trevor A will have to put the ball on the floor more and drive into the paint, where Pekovic is lurking.
Martin is also long so he is going to run at Beal and on offense, he has a quick release. Bradley is going to have to D up and find some space mid range on pull ups after he puts the ball on the floor.
That leaves Wall on the perimeter against Rubio where he has the advantage, but that's also why Wall was jacking outside shots last time. And that didn't go so well. 5-17
Like it or not, they have to drive to the hole and get their front court in foul trouble.
Where we have the advantage is our 2nd line up with Webster and Nene. Temple can D up JJ. But Webster and Nene are going to have to do a lot of damage. And they will need Kevin to keep up his recent good play.
If they start Booker, I expect us to be down in 8 minutes into the first.
Game Flow last meeting.

Box Score.

Ves played well last game. And we had no Trevor A
Down 7 after the first quarter and down 12 at the half. But a big 3rd quarter. 30 pts.

Re: Official Thread - Wiz at T'Wolves (12/27/13)
They have no rim protectors. Yes Pek is a big dude but he doesn't contest shots well. They ought to attack the basket as much as possible. Sans brewer, they don't have a great defensive FC. Love is not someone who ought to be feared as a defender.
I do wonder about the Gortat-Pek matchup when they're n offense. Gortat can get pushed around fairly easily. I doubt love is considerably more powerful then Nene or Booker.

Really good offensive rebounding team... we need to hit the defensive boards to run
