Siva + Mitchell D-League Thread

Post#1 » by ajaX82 » Thu Dec 26, 2013 9:46 pm

Two of the young guys heading to the Mad Ants. Should be a good opportunity for them to get some big minutes and work on their games.

Sounds good. I look forward to the overly optimistic fan reaction after Mitchell puts up 20 & 20 in the d-league.

Shows how much KL knows about. Fluff piece talking about how Mitchell would not go to the D league.

Good move. Show them the nba lifestyle for a few months then let them play. We'll be seeing them again.

I don't know why anyone would film it, but is there any way we can watch D-League games of both. be interesting to see how they do against the scrubs of the league.

I remember watching macklin play for the mad ants on youtube. There was live dleague games on there, not sure if they still do it though.

I can see both guy dominating there. Should be fun to watch.

Yeah I'm pretty sure there is a link on nba.com for the nbadl games and it's free. They're really trying to push it.

My favourite is when he said Kravstov would be the first big off of our bench last year.

Good move. I like them spending time working with the team & coaching staff, but also good to get some burn and work on the things they are learning. I'm sure they'll be back in the lineup at some point, whether due to injuries, trades or whatever, but I like that sorta balance in their development.

The move made sense. I have been beating this drum since day one. These guys weren't seeing many minutes if any as of late. Detroit needs these guys to develop as cheap role players if they intend to keep Monroe. I could see Detroit rolling a cheap bench. This move is a huge hell yes from me. I think this is the only way a guy like Mitchell can improve. One can only do so much in practice.

I assume this is just a 4-5 game stint to see where their games are at after a half season of working with the coaching staff - to see if what they can show what they've been taught in games.

I think that is not the case. I think it is a legit stint. Those two need minutes.

Yeah I agree KL tows the corporate line which is why I don't read him anymore. I thought Krasvtov shoulda been in the D-League last year. I think these two just needs minutes and see if they can ball. There are some interesting guys in the D-League so I don't think it's the scrub show anymore.

A friend of mine referred to Siva as a human bobblehead.
I just told my friend that Siva went to the D-League and now he's the "D-League Bobblehead".

Until Siva turns himself into a good shooter, I don't see him as a viable NBA role player. Mitchell however has a chance to be excellent. I'm glad to see him get some PT. I'll likely try to catch some of his games. My guess is he'll be called up pretty soon as the Pistons have a month coming up with a lot of practice time built into their schedule. They'll want Mitchell for that. After the game schedule gets more compact, I'd expect the Pistons to send him back to the DL. Same for Siva.

We really won't know what we have in Mitchell until what we see he creates and improves on over next summer coming into camp.
