Winning 40 games guarantees any 3 years of treadmill.

As fans, especially raptors fans, we are incredibly short-sighted and we love to live in the moment. Its why we are fans and we are inherently not rational at all (fan is short for fanatic). Now we might revel in our wins and our high seed but two years from now when we are still a treadmill team and the players from this draft start producing and meeting their potential, then the depression and self-hatred starts.
Its a vicious cycle thats been happening since the Raptors came into existence and it won't be ending anytime soon.

Raps will most likely have the 18th pick in the draft

The sad thing is that many of the anti-tank crowd have been watching this team for a long time and know how this story ends but they still watch expecting a different ending.

Tanking doesn't guarantee anything.
Winning does.
Nothing in life is a guarantee. But the least you can do is give yourself a chance.
That's what tanking does: it gives you a chance, because in this day and age of stars teaming up to compete for championships you'd better have multiple elite players yourself, or else you're just cannonfodder.
All that winning games to achieve mediocrity guarantees is tire tracks up your front and down your back as the teams with great players run you over.

Bell and Rogers can't wait to sell you more specialty channels and cell phone plans when the Raps make the playoffs.
Bend over a few times treadmillers.

Perfect day Nets won which I haven't a problem with less of a good pick for Atlanta.
Charlotte, Washington and Detroit lost.
Sorry the TANK is destroyed by the Resistance

Yes: hello with their multiple elite players they needed to win, which is PRECISELY my point.

Yes: hello with their multiple elite players, which is exactly my point.
That they didn't draft (outside of Pierce who languished until the trade and Wade who always needed a supporting cast)

Tanking got MIA Wade whom they built around and who went and convinced the other 2 to join him...tanking allowed BOS to not only get Pierce but again when they traded all their young "talent" for KG....so what are you saying again?

And Cleveland drafted LBJ
And Toronto drafted CB4
And Minnesota drafted KG
Drafting a superstar isn't a slam dunk as to whether or not you can compete as an elite team. It is a component, but hardly a mitigating factor.
Take a look at the Pacers.

So, when exactly do you expect Durant and Chris Paul and Dwight Howard to decide to team up in Toronto? Oh that's right: never.

Re: TWO: Tank World Order
Im wishing (no praying) that Masai trades Lowry soon. He has been our best player since Gay left and is making our team a lot better on both sides. At this point we either lose him for nothing or have to overpay him waaaay too much to keep him. If we trade him at and allow Demar to handle the ball more often we would be right back at rudy gay levels of efficiency and winning.
If greivis vasquez is our only decent point, we arent going anywhere.

I am going to assume your join date was when you started watching basketball cause you seem to have no understanding of how the league works.

And as I said before, it's NOT a guarantee. It's not supposed to be. The "gaurantee" argument is just an obvious strawman. What it does is give you a chance.
About once a decade or so a team gets lucky/good with some of their draft picks and becomes a good team without a top pick. Is that really the strategy you're suggesting? Hope we get lucky and have picks 10th picks and beyind become top players in the league? Using that strategy we could wait until the year 2100 and never have a contender.,

I would love a chance to build around a young/prime KG and a young LBJ...
It would be impossible for our management team to do a worse job them the those guys running the show in MIN/CLE at the time.

The strategy I am suggesting is to go out and win basketball games. That should be every teams strategy.
What's the point of drafting superstars if the supporting cast doesn't know how to win?
