Bynum?
Apparently Bynum will be released/trade (but most likely simply released) by the Cavs seeing as they can cut/trade him with only $6 mil guaranteed by Jan. 6th I believe. Apparently his two teams of choice to play are the Clippers and Heat. Thoughts? I'd take an injured Bynum over Odom any day.
If the Clippers win the championship next year I'm getting banned from RealGM

Bynum as a backup big on the Clipps, providing he has a good attitude and all, would be f*cking EPIC!! We need to make this happen

Re: Bynum?
No chance the Clippers trade for Bynum, the Heat as well. Yet another bad move by the Cavs. You dont suspend a guy 2 weeks before a decision on whether or not to guarantee the rest of his contract. Furthermore, you dont set a guarantee date a month before the trade deadline. This give Bynum all the leverage.
The Cavs only hope is for the Celtics to step in and offer Wallace and a first for Bynum. Maybe the Nets offer Pierce for Bynum.
The Heat and Clippers will wait for him to be waived.
That said, Bynum is a perfect fit for the rest of the season on the Clippers. Not sure about the Heat other than chasing a title.

Plus, why would I want to go to the NBA? Duke players suck in the pros.

Re: Bynum?
I really disliked the guy when he was on the Lakers, especially his technique flying forearms into people while in mid-air. Having said that, he could help the Clips if his attitude is right. He is unbelievably big. He may not be the tallest player in the NBA, but his wingspan has to be the longest. He has a very solid, even if very deliberate post game. How can anybody stop somebody that big from scoring? We saw it firsthand with his domination of Jordan- even this year.
I think if he is released he is more likely to go to Miami because they could offer him a starting position, which the Clips of course can't. They can't ruin Jordan's confidence by relegating him to the bench.

to start? heck no.
I don't think he would be in his right mind if he thought he was starting. I'll take him as a backup C despite his laziness, lack of passion for basketball, etc, but at a minimum contract playing limited minutes, a lot of things are masked. Still, it isn't like he's played well this season.

Re: Bynum?
Bynum is a quality center and would add great value to our bench. However I don't see it happening since he has the attitude that he should be starting and that won't happen at the Clippers.

Re: Bynum?
Here's how I feel about this. Bynum has talent, but apparently doesn't have passion for the game. I'm sure we might interest him by being a title contender and being in LA. If we can get him for cheap I say take a chance and bring him off the bench.
I'm curious if Doc could change his attitude at all. Honestly I really don't know about Bynum. If he's willing to come here let's take a chance. But if it's clear that his interest is outside of basketball I say cut him loose.

I've been an LA Clipper fan since 1998 and that will never change. I hate our new logo and jerseys!

Couldn't we waive Jackson and Waynes and get Odom and Bynum? That would be a powerful combo coming off the bench. If I could only have one I would still go with Odom, Bynum seems like a bad team mate and just a bad person in general.

It's unclear if the Cavs would be willing to release him before Jan. 7 if they can't find a trade partner. But (if) they do let him go, a person with knowledge of the situation said that the Los Angeles Clippers would have serious interest in signing him.
The Clippers have a lack of depth behind Blake Griffin and DeAndre Jordan in their frontcourt and are well aware they need help in that department, especially in the tough Western Conference. Bryon [sic] Mullens and Ryan Hollins are averaging a combined 5.2 points and three rebounds per game in the post.
The person spoke on the condition of anonymity because of the private nature of personnel decisions.

Re: Bynum?
I'm far from a fan of Bynum's. I don't respect his antics on or off the court. It's been said many times that he doesn't love basketball, but that doesn't mean that he can't be good at it. This guy was one of the top young bigs in the league aside from the injury concerns. If we took a look at him, it would be for the minimum. We're desperately in need of some reserve big man depth. For that reason, I'd hope that we would take a chance on him. If it didn't pan out, it's only the minimum. If he could behave himself for the rest of the season, then it could be a huge pick-up.
Jackson is unguaranteed for now so he could easily be cut. Wayns is guaranteed for the entire season due to his injury. If the Clips were to waive a player, they'd have to eat his salary/agree to a buy-out or they would have to look for a trade to a team under the tax threshold and with an open roster spot.

Marc Stein listed both Stephen Jackson and Maalik Wayns on his list of 50 players at risk of being waived on January 7th. Whether it's an error or change to Maalik's original contract terms remains to be seen.
Steve Perrin, ClipsNation.com (12/28/13)
Eric Pincus of HoopsWorld reminds me that guarantee dates can be postponed by mutual agreement between the parties. So it's probable that December 1st was indeed in Wayns' contract, but he, his agent an the Clippers negotiated to move that date back. Why would Wayns agree to such a thing, when it increases the likelihood that he could be waived this season and miss out on almost two thirds of his season's salary? Wayns is a 22 year old who would like to play in the NBA beyond this season -- if he works with the Clippers here he will be seen as a team player, and they will likely not forget that in the future. Other teams will know this happened as well. For a guy who figures to be fighting for the 14th or 15th spot on NBA rosters for a few years, every little bit counts. Taking a fair approach to his current situation could be viewed as an investment in his NBA future.
Looks like Maalik Wayns' contract is not yet guaranteed after all

its pretty bad to get kicked off a young & upcoming team; I wonder if he was the "man in the middle" of the Irving-Waiters war of words? Don't think I would be willing to chance a playoff run w/ a big jerk, just in case he goes physco.

Re: Bynum?
NO to Bynum.
His knees are shot. They are the knees of a 50 year olds (according to a cav''s trainer). He has maybe 2-3 years left in his career. He is a headcase, he can hardly get up the court, doesnt like basketball, injury prone, punk. Why in the world would you want him? He doesnt fit with the team at all.

I agree in many ways- he is a punk and is injury prone. However, I think he has shown in flashes this year that he can still play quite well- for example, against the Clips he played quite well. I think if he is released he will sign with Miami- because they will start him.

More In-Depth Look Into Bynum Situation
Brian Windhorst, ESPN (12/28/13)
What's the next step for Bynum?
Bynum signed a two-year contract for $24.8 million with the Cavs, but only $6 million of it is guaranteed before Jan. 7. After that date, the full $12.25 million this season is guaranteed. Next season's $12.5 million is not guaranteed until July 10.
However, while he often sounds pessimistic in interviews, his actions show something different. He was highly engaged in workouts and rehab after signing with the Cavs. He lost more than 25 pounds and diligently worked to build his stamina. Less than a month into the season, the Cavs doctors cleared him to start playing in back-to-backs, a strong signal he was improving.
Bynum has a point and so do the Cavs. The team's guards generally did a poor job of getting him the ball consistently, even when he was running hot. Guard Kyrie Irving openly admitted he had never played with a post player like Bynum and didn't know how to best take advantage of it. There were games when Bynum was dominating his man but couldn't get a pass in position or with any time on the shot clock.
Meanwhile, Bynum wasn't able to move well enough on his knees to help the Cavs defensively most of the time. He shot just 42 percent when he did get the ball, as he clearly was trying to adapt to shooting without having any lift. The plus-minus numbers showed the Cavs were better when Bynum did not play.

Re: Bynum?
LMAO that link on the bottom of ranma 1/2's post has a lakers fan suggesting they should trade Pau Gasol for Kyrie Erving.
1. i guess he has never heard of a salary match...
2. who the **** is gonna trade a barely 20 year old franchise superstar for a washed up 30 something player near the end of his career who is struggling just to be a #2 option?
3. once again, it proves there are proportionally a much higher ratio of fans in faker land who are either illiterates and/or functional retards.
