Honestly, i don't buy this, Andrew honestly seems like the guy that doesn't give a flying F whether he is playing for a contender or a bad team.

Not really surprising. I thought it was common knowledge that Bynum didn't really like playing basketball and was in it for the money? Dude should consider giving it up. His health is more important and he's on track to be a cripple by the time he gets old.

Why did he get 6M when he could have signed with MIA for the minimum? Really?

Why do I even bother to respond.

It's obvious he rather plays for 6 million than for the minimum. If the rumors are true and he wants to play for a playoff team or a team like Miami where it's a walk in the park, why make it so hard for yourself and everyone else.

As someone who once worked at a job that I disliked, I can tell you that not liking something doesn't mean you won't try or won't perform. It simply means you won't try everything to overcome obstacles. I used to work at a job where basically treated it like a chore. Something one has to do in order to reap the benefits, which is of course money. But for the sake of money, I did the tasks expected of me and did them well IMO. I'm quite sure plenty of NBA players are in it mostly for the money.

But the key distinction between having a job you love, and a job you don't love, is when things get tough. If the pay isn't as good anymore, or you're expected to work more overtime, or if the office environment has become worse, then it starts to matter whether or not you actually LIKE what you're doing. IMO this is what's happening to Bynum. When he was performing in LA, winning championships, getting paid, living the good life, he put up with basketball because it got him all this other stuff. But as the injuries pile up, he has to work harder than he used to, he's being scrutized more, being paid less, there's a lot less incentive for him to care.

Bynum is a fan of money. He's going to milk every cent he can get out of those 7 feet.

This post evokes imagery of Andrew Bynum using seven different feet (singular plural? foots?) as udders.

Bynum life.

Hard to sympathize with a guy getting paid this much to play for a team he signed a contract with knowing they weren't going to contend.. But I can kinda see where he's coming from.. He's already been considering retirement this season & likely thinks he only has a few seasons left of playing in the league.. He wants to spend those seasons contending if possible.. He's not going about it the right way but I can see how it makes sense in his mind.

It's funny, about a week ago I made a topic asking what the Cavs should do come January 7th. Of course, they'll keep him, but it looks like he's trade bait and nothing more at this point.

Interestingly enough, he's facing the exact same question right now.

All he had to do was keep his mouth shut for two weeks and he makes another $6M for the balance of the season.

Any disgurntled player that is trying to force a trade, should be traded to the Raptors.

Clyde Frazier wrote:So after this year he'll have made $70+ mil in his career (which is insane…) At only 26, what does he plan to do for the rest of his life? He really doesn't seem to be that smart or committed to anything. And if this is just a ploy to play for a better team, i've completely lost respect for him.

He clearly didn't put in the work to re-hab the right way (remember the bowling incident) with the sixers, and now he's causing trouble with another team? Meanwhile, oden's doing all he can just to get back on the court for a few min per game.

I think in Oden's case its more of a "I must prove I can play again thing." Oden was also never known for being in love with the game of basketball. He had constant media interactions where he talked about how he strongly considered pursuing a career in dentistry instead of basketball.

This guy went from one of the top 3 centers in the league (You guys remember people were saying they would take him over Dwight) with his time in the Lakers to being traded all over the place; right now I doubt any team would take the risk of picking him up in a trade.

This sounds more like Dan Gilbert manufacturing a reason to cut him and save that remaining $6 mil. I don't buy the idea that they want to trade him and I don't buy the idea that Drew suddenly wants to quit basketball after working hard to get himself back on the court over the summer.

If this really was some devious scheme by Bynum to get paid then he'd stfu atleast until Jan 7th when his contract gets guaranteed so he can bank twice the money.

What a huge waste of talent.

If that was really true, why would we say that he isn't getting along with teammates?? I would assume that it would lower his trade value.. Similar to the whole Asik ordeal...
