If that was really true, why would we say that he isn't getting along with teammates?? I would assume that it would lower his trade value.. Similar to the whole Asik ordeal...

And if you're Dan Gilbert, watch him sign with the Heat for the vet minimum? Lolno.

All reports suggest the Cavs would prefer to move him and at least get something back, but so far, no one is blowing up Grant's phone. If that doesn't change quickly, THAT'S when you cut him, pocket the savings yourself, and move on.

I could also potentially see him going to DAL, since he and Cuban had what seemed like mutual interest in each other during the offseason. Whether that's changed is obviously unclear. Mavs still could use a center and are currently hovering around 5th. Is that enough for Bynum or does he want to chase a ring on a contender?

That's always been his problem really. As soon as our championship window was shut, you could already see signs his motivation was tanking. From the disgraceful elbow to Barea that earned him a 4-game suspension after our sweep to the Mavs to playing for a fuddy in Mike Brown, who never could keep him in line like Phil managed to, Bynum burned every bridge of support in the Lakers organization that he had left.

Where is Bynum now? In Cleveland.

Where is Brown now? In Cleveland.

It should have been obvious the day he was signed things wouldn't work out. He's not a stupid player by any means, but just because you aren't stupid doesn't mean you aren't a cancer. I have no doubt on a winner, he would find enough motivation to at least play out the remainder of the season without incident.

It is so weird to see Phil Jackson using twitter. He is literally the last person I ever thought would be into that kind of thing...

It simply means you won't try everything to overcome obstacles. I used to work at a job where basically treated it like a chore. Something one has to do in order to reap the benefits, which is of course money. But for the sake of money, I did the tasks expected of me and did them well IMO. I'm quite sure plenty of NBA players are in it mostly for the money.

But the key distinction between having a job you love, and a job you don't love, is when things get tough. If the pay isn't as good anymore, or you're expected to work more overtime, or if the office environment has become worse, then it starts to matter whether or not you actually LIKE what you're doing. IMO this is what's happening to Bynum. When he was performing in LA, winning championships, getting paid, living the good life, he put up with basketball because it got him all this other stuff. But as the injuries pile up, he has to work harder than he used to, he's being scrutized more, being paid less, there's a lot less incentive for him to care.

It ain't even all that complicated, although thats a good example. Having your legs taken away from you and playing in constant pain for years on end when you already know it's only gonna get worse will eventually sap all the joy out of something a man loves, nevermind something he doesn't.

Watch him go to Suns where he posts 17+9 on 30 mins per game in 75 games played haha... Wouldn't that be a story. :)

It doesn't matter anyway since it will never happen. And even if he was healthy, he really doesn't fit into the Suns uptempo style.

But yeah, it would be a story if that actually happened.

why would they cut him to save $6 million, half of which is saving money above the cap, instead of trading him to get a player who makes as much as about 15.5 million? the cavs want to win and pretty desperately need a real SF. HIs contract is pretty unique. Trading for him and then releasing him could save the Nets about $50 million and the bulls about $20 million.

And if they were going to just cut him to save $6 million, they would have released him already.

Cavs might be smart to hold on to his contract even if they can't deal by Jan 7th even though it would cost Gilbert an additional $6 mil. A $12 mil expiring could be useful at the deadline. Who knows some team could be willing to deal a star by July and expirings always come in handy. In the case of Bynum the team acquiring him this summer simply doesn't pick up his option for next season..instant cap savings which is better than an expiring. Maybe some team looking to sign Carmelo or another FA would give up good assets this summer to instantly free up capspace.

From what I read, his worth ethic and interest in the game had diminished the last couple weeks so the Cavs decided to get rid of him before things got worse. Apparently his last 2 games were a big factor in the decision to get rid of him
