I don't disagree with you. I'd much rather see Okafor playing for the Heat too. But he's injured, likely all season long. If he did sign with us and came back, he wouldn't be that active. I'd much rather put a 7'0'' obstacle than a 6'10'' one if it comes down to that.

Bynum has a standing reach of 9'3.5". Okafor has a standing reach of 9'3.5". Height is a drastically overused measurement.

Okafor isn't really undersized and is a very good defender, but I believe Bynum's standing reach is considerably higher then that. He's probably the biggest player in the NBA with Brook Lopez.

I googled it, so take it for what it's worth.

Like Hallstar said, that's probably from when he was 17 YO. He's got to be around at least 7'6 now.

Yeah I get your point.

But keep in mind that Philly and the Cavs thought the same and look what happend. If it was any Center not named Bynum, then it's true, he would be too valuabe to pass on him.

Protland would never ever risk their team system/chemistry they currently have, just to trade for a guy, who doesn't want to play for them. On top of that, Portland has it's history with players having chronic health issues, tbh.

Philly got screwed because he wasn't ready to play, and he wasn't going to risk himself during a contract year.

We are not talking Rodman, Artest, etc.. Bynum has character issues but not up to that kind of level. And trust me, there will be a lot of teams that will gamble on him knowing his history. When you're talented and 7ft in this era, you will garner a lot of interest.

Riley will not pick him up. Bynum is in horrible shape, not motivated at all. His attitude and dedication compared to his talent is not worth it. This is not Shaq we are talking about. This is a modern day Benoit Benjamin.

Honestly, if the locker room can keep him in check then he'll be a very good pick up. He's got skills and he's big. Only thing is the attitude. We got a strong locker room and organization. There's no way Bynum is gonna pull any **** when he knows he'll have everyone from Riley and Spo to LeBron and Wade on ass for it.

Until I see how we handle Oden, I'll pass. Everyone knows about the org and strong locker room, but the coaching staff still has to play him.

Eddie curry, Oden and who else we've picked up on the cheap with that "sacrifice" pitch only to be used as a practice player

Not impressed with picking up any more role players with bad attitudes/knees

WT:

The Los Angeles Clippers and Miami Heat would have interest in signing Andrew Bynum if he is released by the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Second WT:

Andrew Bynum has mentioned he is unsure of how much longer he wants to play because of lingering pain in his knees.

But Bynum has been highly engaged in workouts and rehab after signing with the Cleveland Cavaliers.

Bynum lost more than 25 pounds and worked hard on improving his stamina.

BillSimmons
Expect Bynum to miraculously regain his love for basketball once he gets away from this messy Cavs situation. He has an end game here.

BillSimmons
Cavs' big mistake was including a Jan. 7 opt-out deadline for them to guarantee rest of Bynum's deal this year. Gave him an out.

BillSimmons
From what I hear, Bynum wants to end up with Heat or Clips. But he'd have to be released + Cavs want to trade him (see @WindhorstESPN).

BillSimmons
Also hearing he'd consider Boston - Celts have expirings/assets to get him (if they wanted him). His ideal teams are Miami/Clips though.

BillSimmons
No team will trade for Bynum and spend 6 mill if he doesn't want to play there. He's playing this perfectly. Depressing but true.

BillSimmons
Last note... This is super-important because a semi-healthy Bynum could swing the title race if he lands with Heat or Clips. Stay tuned.

he tries to write **** in hopes it will happen in his reality

i bet the cavs put out those heat/clips rumors in order to scare teams into trading for bynum out of fear he'd alter the balance of power

won't work tho

the thing is, who you cut? the depth in the backcourt is shallow and you have too many big guys, the only reasanoble option is Joel, but who is going to take him? you will have to send a 1st round pick for that to work.

As far as contenders go, OKC could certainly use him, Portland might gamble, SA MIGHT take the bait, etc...

And despite him saying whatever, some garbage or mediocre team will gamble on him. A talented 7 footer with a real post game is too hard to pass up if the financial hit is reasonable.

Yea, imagine the Pacers somehow adding him.

Hibbert starting, then another GIANT coming off the bench, plus Mahinmi, we'd be screwed.

I say GET HIM, if only just to prevent OTHER teams from getting even BIGGER on us than they ALREADY ARE!

Look, we all know his knees are bad and hes not what he was in 09, BUT......

- Hes a giant. His body type is basically Shaq lite

- He played a HUGE role in Kobe winning those last two titles (going head to head with Howard and Perkins)

- There was a time not too long ago when people were debating who was the best center in the league, Bynum or Howard

His size. Thats all he would have to provide to help us, and fortunately all that requires is for him to show up.

I say send Joel/Mason/1st for backcourt assistance... Jordan Crawford or something that Riley has been oondering....open up the roster spot

Sign Bynum... Another low cost, low risk contract... Like Beasley, Open because the benefit greatly outways the consequences

Stick him with Mourning and see if he can be ready in March/April and have him and Oden go at it...even if neither of them work out how we envision...having them contribute 10min at the center position will do wonders. If they contribute 20min...that's a championship.

He's injured. He's also 6'10''.

He's also a better defender then Bynum, a better fit, a better guy, a harder worker, and healthier if he can rehab in time.
he has an injury that he isn't really coming back from. I think it's reoccurring too.

Riley should take a flyer on bynum if it's for the minimum. Doesn't work? Cut him

After Andrew Bynum posts up on the hardwood, post him up on your wall! Kids will score this @Fathead Giveaway (12/29)

Cleveland Cavs suspend Andrew Bynum, then cancel Fathead giveaway

Andy Baskin | Newsnet5 Cleveland

...The Andrew Bynum Fathead Tradeable will no longer be available for all kids, ages 14 and under, who are planning to attend the Cavaliers home game with Golden State.

The kids will instead receive a handout upon entering The Quicken Loans Arena with details on how to redeem it for a free Cavs Fathead Tradeable pack.

Also, the Cavs will give kids 14 and under a voucher with instructions on how to redeem them for two complimentary tickets to an upcoming Cavs home game in January.

Fathead is owned by Cavs Owner Dan Gilbert.

When LeBron James decided to play for the Miami Heat back in 2010, Gilbert decided to lower the price of the life sized LeBron James poster to $17.41. The same year that noted American traitor Benedict Arnold was born...

i would not protest this pickup no way. bynum is not gonna come in here and ruin the locker room, too many vets and strong leaders up front. lebron/wade/haslem and co will have him cut the minute he starts causing trouble.

hed be great in our center rotation for 10 - 15 minutes and if reports are true that he wants in on this team i doubt hell come in demanding the ball. dude has been spoiled with winning since being a teenager (lakers championship teams), he probably doesnt want to waste his last capable years of playing on a terrible franchise like the cavs

PDcavsinsider
NBA source says obviously disinterested Bynum jacked up wild shots at practice on Friday, angering coaches and teammates, didn't cuss Brown.

PhilJackson11
I’m reluctant to judge ABynum’s bball intent. He is a man of many interests and has a life outside of bb, but he does like to compete.
