Monroe. He'll put up all-star stats as a full time center for us. He's not a PF.

Production wise they are similar, but Monroe being younger is a much more desirable player for the Wizards. BUT, signing Monroe to an offer sheet is no guarantee to get him, not to mention it wont be possible to retain Ariza and sign Monroe without holding Monroe's bird rights.

IF the Wiz are of the mind to keep Ariza beyond this season and sign Monroe, they will have to make a trade with Detroit before the deadline.

Sure, he made some mistakes, but everybody does. Despite being a great all-around guard back in his day, he can't seem to find a point guard to run the team.

Based on what exactly?

Monroe and Drummond slipped to the Pistons, those were really no-brainer picks where they were made.

When Dumars had salary cap space and savvy was required, he blew his wad on the likes of Ben Gordon, Villanueva, Josh Smith and Jennings.

Dumars caught lightning in a bottle with that Wallace trade and has been an abject failure since.

Fouling out in 8 minutes was pretty impressive.

How did DNP manage to finish at -3 in this blowout?

He seems like Porter is a bit rushed. He is either passing or shooting pretty quickly once he gets the ball. The passes seemed to work pretty well. It seemed like he was trying to take some difficult shots. His rebounding looked pretty good.

Yeah it was great to see Beal being productive.

Saw that too. He suprised me tonight.
8 quiet rebonds
Vicious cross over that unfortunately went no where. Had a huge grin on his face while doing that
Unbelievable facial of Drummond that was negated.

What if....he is better than we expect right now.

Sounds like something I posted at the beginning of the tread. He could break out any game now.

We just have no idea. We have seen so little of him. He could be good. We just don't know. Not much to go on.

Is 8 rebounds in 21 minutes of garbage time a breakout. Not really but I'll take it for now. Specially when we got to be that dribbling and the break away dunk. Dude is long.

Otto Porter was dragging him down.

The last quarter was even 20-20, so it isn't shocking a couple guys have negative on/offs.

Porter doesn't have to be good yet. He just has to do a few good things from time to time to make one believe that he could eventually become a good player.

Tonight was the first time I saw that out of him. It was the first glimmer of hope.

Man, DET really folded like a chair.

Monroe only played 24 mins ?

Smith 18 mins ?

KCP 16 mins ?

For the Wizards. That's what you do. Come out to take them out. Get your work in early. And if all goes well, you played 3 hard quarters and then you can rest. It was really nice to see Otto get 20 mins. Singleton's shot looked good. I said he was my underdog for this year. He might still surprise some people.

As for Nene. Amazing how much he can impact a game in just 19 mins. To bad he fighting lingering injuries. He is a good basketball player. So smart about the game. And he is a load. He is well worth the 13M he makes. He means so much to this team.

As for Ves. Its almost like the refs have it out for him. I know on one foul it was total BS. He just jumped in front of the defender and boxed out and got called. I mean 6 fouls in 8 minutes. Come on.

Even though Otto didn't have a "stellar" game and hasn't had one yet, he has quietly been playing very well. He's also a lot more athletic than some of you guys seem to believe. He apparently has a 37 inch vertical.

I agree that foul shouldn't have been called - the others were good calls. So 5 fouls in 8 minutes is more accurate.

Monroe is a center. If we could replace Gortat with him we'd be really sharp.

Detroit needs better wing play. Ariza would help them a lot I think. If they could luck into getting Marcus Smart they'd be set.

Smart
KCP
Ariza
Smith
Drummond

But yeah I don't know where Monroe fits in at this point. The Smoove deal should have never happened.

Sounds like you just made the case for why it should have happened. They already have their PF for when Monroe leaves to play center some place else. Sounds like they planned ahead.

Most knowledgeable Pistons fans realize that its Smith's presence in the frontcourt that is causing problems for the team. Last night Cheeks even benched Smith in the 2nd half for his lackluster play and effort for the 2nd time this season. It appears trouble is brewing between Cheeks and Smith.

I wouldn't blame Smith as much as I'd blame the entire Detroit front office for throwing money at him. I think Detroit fans would agree because any knowledgable fan could see that adding Josh Smith to a frontcourt of Drummond and Monroe made no sense. Detroit needed a floor spacer up front to have any chance of Drummond and Monroe succeeding. It's like the Wiz drafting Vesely - yes, it's primarily the GM's fault, but also everyone who assists the GM should have told him in no uncertain terms - Don't do it! - so everyone should be tainted by the decision.

When Smith made that behind the back pass intended for Drummond early in the game, I think that was it for the game. It highlighted the problems of both of those players. Smith takes too many low percentage chances, and Drummond has no offensive instincts. It was Smith's fault, because he's got to know the limitations of his teammates. Drummond is great at what he does do, but despite what the stat guys say - hes a very limited offensive player.

this was funny. I was at the game and it sounded like fans knew he was scorless in the VC. His first two points caused quite the ironic cheer.

That impressed me, too. Wall's a good kid who's easy to root for.

I was just looking at the box score for this game and noticed that Nene had a 3 point attempt? Was it a last second shot or something like that?
