Voted Smith/Drummond. Best defensive option, and it hopefully limits Smith from perimeter shots. Plus, Moose has been mediocre.

Drummond Monroe, and a shooter at SF. Smith's IQ is so low it pisses me off.

Exactly this. Smith's play is the same no matter what F position he is in. He's the Piston I dislike the most.

Drummond/Monroe : I was happy with how the two of them were playing toghether last year. Just need upgrades at the 2,3 and maybe the 1.

Re: Just for kicks: our starting front court
I don't care as long as the Smith/Monroe/Drummond unit rarely sees the light of day. Drummond needs to start to help his development, but I really don't care which of Monroe/Smith becomes a supersub here. It doesn't matter.
I'm still baffled that Cheeks continues to MAXIMIZE the amount of time those three guys are on the court. There should NEVER be a time when none of those three are on the court, and the amount of time they are all out there together should be minimal.
Its clear defenses have figured this group out. We knew they'd be easy to guard and we're watching it flounder again and again.
Mind you, our absolutely abhorrent guard rotation while Stuckey has been hobbled isn't helping either and that won't be fixed until Stuckey is healthy, but Cheeks needs to figure out this rotation. Its a flawed roster, but it can be optimized a lot better than this.

Cheeks is either trying to fit a round peg into a square hole. Or, he's trying to exhibit to management that the team he has simply isn't effective. I guess it depends on whether you think Cheeks is a moron, or has a subtle touch.

There are other ways to send messages to the management then driving the trade value of Smith and Monroe into the ground.
Cheeks should be starting Jennings - Stuckey - Singler - Monroe - Drummond with the ball being dumped into Monroe and Drummond to start every game. Then bring KCP-Smith-Harrelson off the bench. This gives KCP less pressure to work on his shots and allows Smith to dominate the bench PFs in the league easily.
Cheeks is an idiot. Once again we have the players but they are being mismanaged

First thing first is KCP needs to be benched. We can't keep having Jennings as are only 3pt shooter. I would start Singler.

Joe D probably wants asik because having talent at that position already isnt enough. Its the Joe D way. Lets get Asik and Lowry because Joe D vision of a team is having talented guys that play the same positions.

Monroe/Drummond obviously. Stick to the plan, these other signings arent long term pieces like Moose & Dre.

Unfortunately they are. These signings SHOULDN'T be long term pieces - but alas Joe D has done it again. He has killed the value of both moose nd smoove, and i wouldnt be surprised if dre's growth is being stunted. Moose is a goner and its so sad because it was a stupid move signing smith from day 1. Id feel less worse if management was letting him walk because they didnt want to pay him or something.

To play devils advocate, if I wanted to win a game tomorrow, I would go josh/Monroe. That's really a perfect match. I'm hoping Drummond will be great, but as of now, I feel like the more seasoned duo is more consistent. The future is a totally diff story

Possibly but Drummond has to be out there to develop more.

I think this is likely true but I can only imagine the uproar from our fellow Pistons fans if Drummond the superstar was benched. I think Drummond will be a beast in a few years, but he's not there yet. Greg is probably still our best C right now.

I wouldn't mind letting Moose/Dre tandem start and then Smith comes off the bench to relieve the two and or foul trouble.

I hope so, if we can make Smith any more miserable he may demand a trade. Then this would force Dumars to figure something out

Re: Just for kicks: our starting front court
I don't think there'd be any value we can get with Smith's contract. Cheeks is one of the more mellow coaches out there and if you're having one up contests with each other, that's not going to look good for a GM out there.MotownMadness wrote:DBC10 wrote:I wouldn't mind letting Moose/Dre tandem start and then Smith comes off the bench to relieve the two and or foul trouble.

But yeah I agree with you lol. In all reality, I would love if Dumars steps down and Gores brings in a new, younger face to lead the franchise. That way the new guy actually has an excuse to get rid of contracts and be refreshing. Someone like Masai, Morey, and McDon comes to mind. Someone with a good mind that can adapt to the new era of the NBA.
