Tough calls. Overeem, Hall, and Mo are such fast-twitch specimens (no racist). These far less athletic three, to beat them, is pretty amazing. There are too many similarities in those three fights, in fact - the three favorites were totally befuddled and each ended up with really passive, uncanny performances.

The most exciting was Silva, for sure, so I'm going to pick him. Just out of nowhere that KO came, one of the craziest finishes ever. Who stayed in their seat for that one?
Hi love, bye love, I will miss my love.

Yeah, this is a tough year for upsets. There was no "holy crap" upset this year.

Not including Weidman over Silva in the poll is my write-in vote for "holy crap" upset of the year

Robbie Lawler's surprised me the most (maybe it shouldn't have), but that's what I voted on. I think there was a few bigger upsets odds-wise in the UFC, though maybe not with name fighters.

I think I picked Gastelum (don't remember for sure but thought it was basically a toss-up). And the Reem looked so bad at the weigh-in. I wouldn't have picked Newton in the first fight, but King Mo was very over hyped. Davis winning was a surprise but Machida has been known to risk close decisions.

Machida really won, and Kelvin is better than Uriah.

I'd have to go Rory/Lawler. Hell, I wagered a 10 on Rory!

The odds on that fight were pretty even. The shock was that Weidman KOed him, not that he won.

You have to think outside the box since there were no obvious ones. There were some notable, major upsets per the odds, outside the UFC especially, like Mo/Newton and Jenkins/Burley, which were top 5 all time. http://www.tapology.com/search/mma-bett ... upsets-all But I can't say either were shockers. I thought at the time Mo should have been a moderate favorite (-250 or so) and Jenkins was largely unproven and gassed hard in his previous fight.

I guess Lil Nog over Rashad was more surprising than those. Lil Nog was over the hill, never as good as Shad, and just did worse against common opposition, and guys you'd figure Shad would have beaten. Then Shad came out and sleepwalked. But I wouldn't say that was shocking either.

My out of the box pick though is Jay Silva over Michal Materla. Silva was a big dog, and deservedly so. He was 8-8 and had lost 4 of 5, to the likes of Alvey, Marunde, Swofford, and Materla himself. Materla was 19-3, won 7 straight, one against Silva, and had beaten many more notable opponents. Then he went and got ko'ed.
