Yeah little line driver...imagine if nene had 3 pt range, our floor spacing would have been absurd lol.

Honestly, I think the pro-Porter guys are clutching at straws right now. He played a lot of minutes (garbage time) and made only one FG and that equates to having a good game? I will be impressed when he manages to score double digits.

You missed it.

He crossed over Josh breaking his ankles and just pulled up with 18 on the clock. It was awesome.

Porter had 8 rebounds in 21 minutes and he's taking good shots. Time will tell if he can find his jumper in the NBA- he is bound to get clean looks especially since his shot selection is good. His percentages need to improve but he did get 2 field goals in the 4th quarter.

Is it "clutching at straws" to say be patient and remember that Otto is a rookie who missed training camp, preseason and the first month of the season?

No. It means exaggerating an otherwise mediocre performance.

Seems to have a nose for the ball.

Its early. From what I saw last game, I'm feeling better that he could be a player.

Since this is basically a home and home series, should we just use this thread for tonight's game?

I don't think anyone really thinks that this was some kind of "coming out party" for Porter. Surely, getting a few buckets in garbage time is nothing to be impressed about. But at least this was the first time Porter looked like he belonged out there. He looked like a reasonably high rookie draft pick in a preseason game - which is pretty much where I expect him to be given his lack of training camp.

No. We need a new thread. Where is Jay81?

It literally depends on the weather with that one. :)

On Porter, I was impressed with the tools he showed and his aggression. He's not a good player yet, but he's coming along as we should have expected - given the injury circumstances.

Wall and TA have great chemistry, on a way lesser scale but sorta like
Pippen and Jordan. Please note, I said way lesser scale.

agreed.

not to damn Wall with faint praise but his mid-range stroke seems better
to my possibly lyin eyes than Beal's.

I love Beal and I'm not overly concerned about his game (he's freakin 20 yo)
but he was 6-12 from the floor (I'll take that) but 3-4 from 3 (very nice). My higher math
skills lead me to say Beal was only 3-8 inside of 3 (not that great). So he got 6 pts on 8 FGA
from inside the arc, 9 pts on 4 attempts from downtown. He's either got
to take more 3s as a %age of his shots or start shooting his mid-range shots
better. Or start doing better getting FTAs. If he wants to be a really good SG anyway.

This is basically what I told Glen C on the radio driving home. Glen (love you man)
kind of rationalized this saying that is what the defense is giving you, it's a good shot.
I disagree. That's what the defense WANTS you to do. If we hadn't won, we complain
that BB was 'settling'.

He looked like an NBA player. Other than Wall and Beal, that has been the exception with Wizard's rookies.

wait, no matter how they play, the order doesn't change? Interesting concept.

Parker is and has been a winner for a long time, was great almost through the finals
last season but on a pure numbers basis, isn't Wall outperforming just about everyone
not named Paul or Curry? We'll have to see how Rondo does coming back. If he returns
close to form, he's a better set-up man than John but John has him in many other areas.

I agree with this sentiment.

OP is looking more comfy. He's playing in the flow. Give him another
20 games and I think we will like what we see. He's still way behind
with all the time he has missed.

edit to add - at least let's wait another month before drawing absolute
conclusions. We gave up real early on Beal last year too. And Wall before that.

They can switch at the end of close games to fool the opposition into leaving Otto wide open. Sorta like a pro rassling type move.

That's part of the problem. Many folks that supposedly know game still think this way. You've got the freaking coaching staff still living in the past & encouraging guys to take these shots. When the roster is healthy, the biggest problem for the Wizards offensively is amount of long 2s they take. Maybe that's because they still using Flip's offense which specialized in creating open looks from 20 ft and in. Our coaching just seems a little behind the times. We just seem a little slow to catching up with the rest of the league in terms of strategy, but that would go for many of the teams in the East IMO.
