McDonough Scouting the ASU v UC Irvine game

Post#1 » by NTB » Sun Dec 29, 2013 6:10 pm

For those who may be interested, I noticed today at the game that McDonough was doing some scouting - he was taking notes throughout the game and talking to a few guys who were definitely scouts. I'm not sure who he was scouting in particular, probably a little bit of everyone, but he seemed to be paying the most attention to center Jordan Bachynski of the Sun Devils.

Bachynski is an interesting prospect - a really big body (7'2 with a 7'4 wingspan) who is surprisingly athletic and quick. It was a good game to scout Bachynski, too, because he spent the majority of the game matched up against 7'6, 290 lbs Mamadou N'Diaye. He handled him pretty well most of the game, but struggled in the second half.

With Slava Kravtsov not likely to be retained after this season and the kind of apparent need for a defensive minded center who can still run with the team, I find Bachynski a really interesting prospect for a second round flier. What do you all think?

I hope this doesn't mean he is giving up on Alex Len. :/

Did you guys know that UC Irvine STARTS three 7-footers? Apparently they didn't for this game due to ASU's run and gun style, but that is pretty incredible that a team has three seven footers, and starts all 3 of them.

I have actually seen them play and played against one of them in a 5 on 5 game. I have friends that go to UCI and whenever I visit, we always go and play at the ARC (which Kobe Bryant built by the way) and there's always the UCI and ICC basketball players balling there.

whenever your scouting another Center that is not good news when you just drafted one.
no other way to sugar coat it.

A's over Royals. Lester and experience will prove that he's worth the trade.

Tigers winning it all. Tigers are, imo, peaking at the right time.
