I thought Haslem was huge in the win against Portland and Rashard has a really high basketball IQ.

Battier definitely looks finished though.

Beasley is such a frustrating player to watch thought because you see his talent, but he just rarely puts it all together. He's either in trouble off the court, getting lost on defense, holds the ball too long, takes bad shots, etc.

I feel he's taken a huge step back these last two games. Hopefully he gets back to his pre-injury form.

Are you sure you watched the game? Beasley wasn't the MVP but he had a solid game. In fact I don't think Beas had a really bad game this year. He's been either great in some games or average in others.

Beasley has been great this year imho. From what he was last couple years and what people expected of him after the last charge, I think he's exceeded expectations. If he can put it together and do what we thought he could do in the past (without properly grooming an immature college kid living in Miami) this year with proper support and leadership in place, sky is the limit.

Beasley has the tools to be an all-star, but I wouldn't peg him as a franchise cornerstone unless you're content with sucking. Offensively he is very good, he just needs to work on the defensive end. Beas will have the best opportunity of his career to prove what he can do this postseason. Contracts and legacies are made in the POs, and this will be Beas' first opportunity to show what he can do. Will he be our Kawhi Leonard? He will have a chance to prove himself, so I'm excited to see what he does with it.

That's a role I never see him fulfill. On the plus side for him, he's way too gifted as a scorer to be limited to spot-up shooting for the most part. Right now, we're giving him opportunities to isolate when he's out there in short spurts and something I wanna continue to see because if there's one thing he can do, it's score a lot in a short amount of time.

On the negative side, he doesn't have Posey's smarts and defensive prowess. Beasley is the guy who will always be bound to have breakdowns defensively, but if you have him out there for around 20 minutes, his offensive output can be so good that his defensive mistakes won't matter much. He's started playing a lot harder on that end, but I doubt he'll ever get much smarter there.

dwade you gotta remember beasley is still very young. i have faith in this coaching staff and the veterans in the locker room. beasley has the athleticism to be a good defender he just has to develop the mindset and that is something he has going for him. he cant get any dumber as a player. hes a knucklehead for sure but there have been other knuckleheads who have turned into decent defenders. i like to look at guys like tony allen and ron artest as examples. here me out here, im not saying beas will be even an ounce as good as them on d but those 2 are guys that dont have it all there mentally yet have been some of the best defenders in the nba. he just has to work for it

Defense is physical tools, desire and focus. Beasley has the former, it's the last two that are the question. Dude is 24 years old. The jury is still out. But to treat him as a finished product is a bit short sighted.

Did I see him as a finished product somewhere? He's just never shown me anything that would make me think he could become a good defensive player. You gotta use your head to defend well and so far, Beasley has always looked lost on that end. Maybe that's because he was so focused on the offensive side and perhaps in a limited role, he'll be able to focus on his defense more.
