...he is?

you think morey is going to trade for melo? really? aside from the obvious clashing of melo, harden, and howard...what about the fact that they have a solid small forward in parsons (who has arguably the best contract in the league, value wise) and there would not be a guarantee melo re-signs?

Slot melo at the 4 and let that the most entertaining perennial Western Conference runners up in the history of the NBA for the next 4 years.

Stat for Josh Smith and Rodney Stuckey.

Why? Detroit might be having buyer's remorse with Smith and he has two more years on his deal than Stat. And for us we get a player who would fit next to Melo and give us another "star".

I wouldn't do it but it might be possible.

Or... and I need to check this but some combination of Bargs, Shump and MWP for Smith?

Why sell Stat cheap? Stat for LBJ and accept nothing less than that.

Look I know what you're driving at but there is conflict with Josh Smith in Detroit. And when you look at it, Smith is still owed like 50% more money than Stat. So they would save a lot of money.

i just dont see how it would work on the court...the playing styles do not mesh...and, of course, morey loves his advanced stats -- a place where melo doesnt usually shine.

But why would he go for Deron Williams with Lin and Asik then?

it should be easier to incorporate a point guard who can spot up and run the pick and roll than it would be to incorporate melo into the offense.

Stat for Javale McGee and Danillo Gallinari.

Why? They both have an extra year at around the same salary and both teams might be wondering if they are even more injury prone than Stat.

I wouldn't do it of course. But...

I'm working OT for you over here. Plus I'm demonstrating that as Stat's contract grows shorter there may be opportunities to move him.

I think Melo is about as hard to trade. What can you get from the Clippers or Lakers for Melo?

It's not easy to get a trade that works. And don't start with Blake because that's not happening.

But my favorite...

Melo for Beal, Porter, filler + 1st I think works for everyone (if Melo wants to leave and wants the max).

See I like the Wizards trade above because you are guaranteed two lottery draft picks (Porter and Beal) + a first.

And Beal has already proven he can play.

I'm not sure anybody outside of the Lakers or Nets or us would give him a kobe-max, and if he's going to play for a crap team he might as well stay here.

Can't see us trading him. He'd have to make it perfectly clear that he's not going to re-sign, but there's two problems with that:

1) who is he walking to? Not the Lakers.

2) does he really want to go through the denver saga all over again?

We're probably better off using Tyson as a trade chip to shed awful contracts (e.g. Felton) and get whatever additional assets we can get (probably can't expect more than a mid-to-late future first). Possible takers: Charlotte, Phoenix, Portland, ? Needs to be a team that wants to compete this year and has a lot of decent dead weight salary to send us.

Hopefully by the deadline we're still so bad that Melo has already accepted that he can't win here until 2015, and he doesn't see it as quitting. If he's not willing to stick it out for a year, there's probably nothing we can do to keep him any way.

With the Wizards we are talking about a team that gave Gilbert Arenas the max.

I'd be ballsy enough to ask them for wall f that. he's from b-more so i think he'd consider playing there. I'm not so sure lac is a good place to trade him anymore. especially if they land bynum. or maybe they are if they do?

I'd do Melo for Beal straight up. Much easier to build around in 2015.

Return to New York Knicks
