Just silly to blame Wittman - ball just didn't go in the hoop.

Moving on...

Didn't watch the game... Followed it on gamecast. Looks like we just kept missing jumper after jumper... And sounds like refs were the suck.

What happened? Was Dallas spectacular in closing out on shooters? Were we just firing blanks?

He's 20 and he's coming off an injury. I wouldn't be too concerned about his play and more concerned about his health.

Most were open jumpers and Dallas played defense in the end when they had to. They closed out well on Webster and Ariza, who can't create off the bounce. Also didn't help that Nene stunk and Seraphin was MIA off the bench. Gortat was ok for a change and Booker was incredible on the boards with 19.

Yep, we had looks... but we just didn't hit shots. D was good - would have kept them at 80 except for end of game fouls. Booker played well - wings not so much.

Seraphin stunk it up as well.

Booker and Wall balled.

Gortat did enough. Terrible 2nd foul call on his. Dalembert tripped over his own feet. Kevin S coming in as the center without Gortat or Nene was exposing him to be more then he is. That was on the refs. I know Randy didn't want to change his line ups but you had to go to Nene when that happens.

But Trevor A, Webster and Nene had rough games. Beal kind of did as well. Not going to beat Dallas if that is the case. Trevor A and Webster went 2-13 from 3. Wall was 1-6 from 3 but did other things.

Give Dallas credit. They played really pesky D and it was all the way out on the perimeter. That affected Trevor A and Webster. This is where the SF lack of driving skills, Beal included, shows up to hurt them.

Greatest weakness on the team is their ability to drive. They can be exposed by defense like Dallas played and that is playoff defense. They are missing a couple players. Another big and another ball handler to can drive and score.

Solid post game by Randy. They needed to get to the line more. That was pretty much the difference.

Neither team shot well. Both played good D.

Dallas was 21-23 from the line. Wizards were 7-10

That was the game.

Those two bogus offensive's on Nene for his 4th and 5th fouls could have been a net +8 point difference. That was the game. Also that 2nd foul on Gortat that forced him to sit just a few minutes into the game allowing Dallas to quickly makeup their 8 point deficit was a horrible call as well. Both teams played equally terrible.

Really starting to like Booker. There was a play where he contested a shot and then in one leap got back to the basket to get the rebound in the 3rd. UNBELIEVABLE! Shame he is always hurt.

Both teams didn't look like they were into the game. Bottom line, we live and die by the jumpshot (long two and three). We need to get to the basket more. At least Wall got the memo. He is unstoppable. I can see him practicing that 360 crossover layup 50 times a day. It is his signature move.

Overall, bad loss for the Wiz. I'm not sure what you can blame it on. I don't get high or low with this team. We had a good streak against "ok" teams and we loss against a good Western Conference team. I didn't expect us to win this game. At least Ted was at the game to see them loose.

This is why they play the games. Even good teams can lose if they shoot poorly. We're only a mediocre team. When we shoot poorly it's REALLY hard to win.

I'm actually fairly pleased with the way we played. We shot 5-24 from 3, and roughly the same percentage on long 2's, yet we were in the game to the very end. If we shot 7-24 (29%), which is really bad for a team that normally shoots 40% from 3, we would have won the game.

This is why you have to win the games you are supposed to win. We gave away a ton of games early in the season that we should have won. Win those games, and it doesn't hurt to lose the occasional game against a good team when the shots aren't falling.

People are saying that the MRI is precautionary. I also wouldn't be surprised if George starts if Irving is injured since the fans have also voted Anthony ahead of George.

the all star game is different this year. Its no more 2 guards, 2 forwards, and a center. now its 2 backcourt and 3 frontcourt. Meaning Lebron, Melo, and George will start anyways. There will be no center

Alright cool. I didn't know that, then Wall should start if there is an injury to Irving.

We're a .500 team right now. Dallas played good D and we couldn't get the looks a perimeter team needs to win. I give up on Seraphan. His bball IQ is horrendous. This type of game is the reason that signing a Nate Robinson type player was essential if we were going to be anything more than mediocre. Instead EG signs the worst PG in the league on the first day of free agency (WTF?).

Besides the normal fire EG and Wittman stuff this game points to the fact that we need to convert assets before the trade deadline. I love Ariza but we need to trade him for a decent point guard or big man.

This team is like your uncle/aunt who always plays the lottery. Yeah he/she could win one day, but chances are they won't. Instead I like the steady hard working uncle/aunt who gets good grades goes to college and works his/her way up to a mid manager type job. If he/she is lucky they might get called into the C suite, but at least they can consistently build their dream.

This is a jump shooting team. You rely you your players being "on" all the time.
Yeah you could win a playoff serious or two, but most likely you won't.
I would not be surprised if Dallas actually caused their poor shooting, but I'm not smart enough to evaluate the games. I hope Beal watches that Harden game where he got 27 points on 2 shots. When you are off.....DRIVE!

We lost the game because we don't have a bench. Good teams like Dallas have solid back-up players. We're just too thin, no one to step up in case starters suck.

I`m not one to be negative, but how do they end up with someone like Crowder and we end up with Singleton.

Agree wholeheartedly. Its not like the Wizards were not getting open looks. They were. The shots were just no falling.

Both teams just looked like they were playing the day after New Years Eve, where they probably were out late last night. Neither team could shoot. The difference was that the Mavs got to the line more.

I wasn't too upset with the loss. I think the effort was there and the Wizards were passing the ball and playing D. We just couldn't knock down open looks. I'd prefer to beat the teams we should beat and lose to the good teams, than the other way around. To me, a loss to the Mavs at home is not near as infuriating as a loss to the Bucks. The Wiz need to take care of the Raptors at home on Friday though.

Yep, Wittman has them playing hard. He has settled in on a rotation - which is hard with this team. He continues to play Seraphin and Vesely even though they aren't very good right now - he is clearly looking forward when one of Booker/Gortat/Nene goes down. He is managing Nene's minutes well. He has a second unit that works. He is bring Porter along in 10 minute stretches.

I do the what if... what if we had gotten Robinson and Blair instead of Maynor and Harrington. We aren't having this conversation. The bench is Robinson, Webster, Porter, Nene, Blair. We are waaaaayyyy above .500.

Instead Wittman is forced to go with Maynor until he proves he isn't effective - that is how good coaches work with the front office.

EG is the problem and (as most if not all posters know) and not Wittman. He has done a pretty good job.

The one thing that posters have presented is that he doesn't call timeouts quick enough. They used to say that about Phil Jackson as well. Not that Wittman is Jackson but you get the picture.

agree totally with BobbyD

If we just shoot 3s halfway between our normal average and what
we actually shot, we most likely win this game. TA/Martell combined
to make 3 of 13. A couple more makes and we probably get the DAL
monkey off our backs. That'll have to wait for another year.

KSera regressed in this game I felt.

Ruz's guy Wright looked great.

OP continued to look OK.

At least OP doesn't hurt us when he is in the game (unlike KS or Vesely at times). I think OP is going to be a decent player. Right now, Wittman is not running any plays for him and OP appears to just want to fit in. I think OP will continue to get better as the season progresses and he gains more confidence (and Wittman gains more confidence in him). Wittman is clearly trying to bring Otto along slowly, which I have no problem with given how well Ariza and Webster have generally played.
