Many were in favor of getting Crowder, but it's really the overall roster they've created in Dallas. That Calderon and Ellis backcourt has meshed as it has, that all of Marion, Dalembert, and Carter are still making significant contributions, that Dirk is still giving big in more limited minutes, that Blair and Wright are looking like great pickups, and that they continue to work young players into the group (5 players in their 1st or second year). I wouldn't have predicted that would work as well as it seems to be working.

If we just shoot 3s halfway between our normal average and what
we actually shot, we most likely win this game. TA/Martell combined
to make 3 of 13. A couple more makes and we probably get the DAL
monkey off our backs. That'll have to wait for another year.

KSera regressed in this game I felt.

Ruz's guy Wright looked great.

OP continued to look OK.

Kevin was exposed. He didn't come in with Nene, he came in for Gortat who had two fouls. The 2nd one was a terrible call. Kevin was made the focal point at center. He isn't ready for that. Not against a team like Dallas with the way they were jumping all over us on D and the refs giving them calls.

Yeah, the 3 ball hurt, but what hurt even more was the lack of FTA's. They had 13 less. 21 PFs to 12 PFs

I don't think the overall Dallas roster is that impressive. Marion, Carter and Dalembert are all well past their primes. And as good a player as Dirk continues to be his best years are also clearly behind him. As for Crowder, he's alright but nothing special. The Mavs most important player may be Ellis. Their offense would have been putrid last night without Monte and the threat he poses when the ball is in his hands.

With the amount of offensive talent and veteran savvy on the team, I'm not surprised that Dallas is a good offensive team. What amazes me is that they are a respectable defensive team as well (DRtg 17th). Calderon and Ellis have a reputation as defensive sieves. Nowitzki was never a great defensive player, and at age 35, one doesn't expect him to even be average anymore. Only Marion and Dalembert are known as good defenders, and Marion is 35, and Dalembert was always known as a low bball IQ player. Yet somehow, that group is playing solid D.

Rick Carlisle is solid coach especially on the defensive end. IMO he is somewhere in the top 4 with Pop, Vogel, and Thibs.
