Fair points UGA,
I just think it's a waste to give backup minutes to a guy like Mack...at all. And giving him backup minutes to Mack while Dennis gets sent to the D-League is just unfathomable to me.

Sorry, RIP. I'm not sold on Mack. While he IS young, I'm not ready to call him talent.
IMO, he's lucky to be playing the NBA. He barely beat out Royal Ivey who's sitting at home waiting for his phone to ring. Mack was drop kicked around the league last year and when he was here us Hawks fans were calling him one of the worst players in the league.
Bud has him playing solid ball in only a couple months of tutelage...how about he focus that energy, development, Playing Time onto Dennis Teague. Our highest draftee since AL and Acie Law so many years ago.
Letting someone else develop Dennis in the D-League while giving so much PT to Mack is not in the best interest of the franchise long term. If Schroeder is so garbage that we're willing to make Mack a part of the future at backup PG over Dennis...so be it. Trade him now while people are still enamored with him from his success during Summer League.
If Dennis wasn't ready to play or learn in the big leagues, he should have remained overseas.

Mack has been solid in that backup role. I do think Dennis can take minutes from him if he can keep the dumb plays down.
I am fine with letting him learn and develop. However if it hurts us and prevents us from winning games...that is the issue. In the d- league he can make some mistakes and learn from them.

I hated the way Mack played last year, even during the Summer, but he's been awfully decent this season. Someone said he was another Anthony Johnson and I can see that possibility. While you may not win many championships with that type of PG, he surely won't hurt you. And, if he continues to improve, he might reach something like Mark Jackson-level.
I'm a big believer in making the rookies work until they can play at a professional level. The minutes are there for Schröder; if he wants to play, then he needs to raise his game. To me, this situation is perfect: we're forcing Schröder to grow, while developing Mack.

My mother told me, she said, "Elwood, to make it in this world you either have to be oh, so clever or oh, so pleasant." Well, for years I was clever; I recommend pleasant.
