Yep, picking anything worse than 4th this year would really be a giant letdown

I believe when we dropped from 3 to 6 it was a less than 1% chance of that scenario.

I was foolishly not very high on him, but Bogut and Horford would've been incredible together. Even Conley would've made a huge difference. Larry Harris could still have his job with either of those two guys.

I am very curious as to how the Bucks rate these prospects. My greatest fear is that we not only don't rate Embiid #1, which is where I have him decisively, but that if we get the #3 pick and Parker/Wiggins go 1/2, that we would pass on Embiid for Randle, Smart, or Exum because of need. That might drive me to tears.

4th is fine with me as long as it isn't Randle.

I think your fears are justified. Frankly I'd be fearful that Embiid plays himself into the clear #1 pick, but that we pass on him because we "already have Larry, ZaZa and Henson" at center.

I agree. I feel like if at least we get the #1, that would mean we'd take Parker or Wiggins. But imagine getting the #3 where Parker and Wiggins go 1 and 2. A normal team would be ecstatic to get the best player in the draft at 3, but I fear we may go Smart or Exum (vomit).

The only thing is, Hammond has been tremendous in the draft all things considered, so I'd hope his acknowledgment that Embiid is the clear BPA would trump the desire to draft for need.

As we know from past drafts where we have had a high pick, Herb Kohl and Ron Walter will be heavily involved in evaluating the top prospects.

I don't hate Exum and vomit was more intended for Smart, but I would be extremely displeased if we passed on Embiid for Exum. Now if the top 3 were off the board and we took Exum, I would be excited, but I have some reservations about Exum that I've made clear in this and other threads. That said, I'd give him a fair shake and would hope he'd be awesome.

Fair enough, I'm no massive Exum fanboy yet. I'd be disapointed at this stage if we passed on Embiid but I wouldn't be punching holes in my walls if we took Exum.

I would seriously pay 10 grand to be at those workouts and meetings. 10 K to anyone who can make that happen.

That's why we need that #1 seed. I won't be thrilled with the fourth overall pick, but we likely at that point sort out our choice of Randle, Exum or Smart. We could still come out ok there.

And that's why every loss counts. You end up with the 3rd worst record and you could be drafting 6th.

And end up picking a guy who can't score on a chair.

He is very intriguing no doubt, but Embiid to me is the clear top prospect in this top-heavy draft, and for us to pass on him because of Sanders and Henson (both of whom I like) would infuriate me. Now they could do that and Exum could end up being the best player in the draft, at which point I'd acknowledge my error and be happy. I have Parker and Wiggins in a tier above Exum, so while I'd be pissed to pass on Embiid for them too, it would be more palatable.

To be fair, I'd say our draft record with Hammond is pretty damn solid. If there's one place not to be worried about management, I think this may be it. They certainly didn't pass on Henson even with Ersan's big second half.

Why is everyone so down on Julius Randle? The guy is a legit double double every night. If we pick 4th and Embiid, Wiggins and Parker are all off the board, I'd be pretty happy to get Randle. He would be a great fit next to Sanders. I don't want Smart at all in the top 5 and I don't know too much about Exum yet to take him over Randle at this point.

My top 5

Parker
Embiid
Wiggins
Randle
Exum

His refusal to do anything with his right hand has raised a ton of question marks for me.

I get that, but that is something he can work on. His left is hard to stop as it is. From what I've seen from Exum is he has great size for a PG and a tremendous first step, but I've noticed he doesn't finish at the rim like someone of his size should, his free throw shooting looks spotty, and his passing is "decent" but not amazing. I guess I need to see more video on him. I do like him though, don't get me wrong. Just think Julius Randle isn't getting his due because of the lack of right hand.
