Beasley will be a pivotal player in the post season. Spo tinkers with the lineups all year but come playoff time he stays relatively consistent unless he sees a matchup he really likes. Battier in the 2012 finals is an example. I think Beasley's lackluster defense is better suited to the slower paced game. Much like chalmers, beas is prone to commit bonehead defensive mistakes in high tempo transition games. In the playoffs the pace is slower so our overall team defense improves. His athleticism will be key

Beasley should def be one of the few key contributors towards a potential three-peat. No doubt about that.

Thanks for the video bud.

No! No! No!

Beasley is like a great side dish at a restaurant. Its not the reason why go back but it helps!

Beasley can be a big part of why we keep this thing going with his scoring and rebounding but not a huge key. Role players can be found; Ray Allen, Battier, Cole, Chalmers but not many Wade/Bosh/LeBrons around.

I would love to lock Beas up for 3yr 14million at the end of this year but realistic, he just resigns for one more year as his getting paid by Suns but if he has 2 years like this one, he will be gone as someone will overpay for Beasley.

I am a supporter of Beas, but I'm surprise no one said something like "we didn't need him last year!", but we don't really don't say things like that around here

Beasley, like someone else said, is an X-Factor. Every year, there is that one person off of our bench that gives us that extra lift. Whether it's Ray, Shane, Lewis, even Miller back when he was here, someone gave us an extra lift. Beasley is another guy who can do that exact same thing on any given night.

I am hoping he makes the title run easier by giving us some good minutes off of the bench, but when it comes to playoff time, the Big 3's minutes will increase, while bench players have reduced minutes. It's really going to have to depend on the situation and how the other team plays.

He will play come playoff time and have a surprising game or so, but he is not a sole "key". X-Factor is more like it.

I'm glad you don't.

Hey disabled sports I actually agree with a lot of what you're saying, Beas may never be the leader or defender Wade is but he could very well become the go to scorer behind lebron and bosh once Wade declines more.

Read again the title, more carefully this time.
It says "key for the Heat to 3peat".

That means THIS YEAR.

This.

"Key" means more than some off the bench scoring.

Besides the play of Lebron and Bosh, which are quite obviously important, I would count these as keys before Beasley:

* Wade's health

* Battier making his 3's (this one is HUGE, almost as important as Wade's health)

* PG play (Chalmers and Cole)

* Ray Allen making his 3's

Speaking of Beasley, the team couldn't stop the Raptors yesterday when he was on the court, and Ethan Skolnick said there was a moment where Wade gave Beasley an angry look like he frequently did during Michael's first two NBA seasons over a defensive breakdown.

I wish Wade would be more positive towards Beasley. I remember Ira saying that he noticed several times during Beasley's first two seasons where Wade would tell the coaching staff to bench Beas for Haslem during games.

It seems LeBron seems to take a more positive approach with Beasley.

I could be wrong though.

Wade is more of a Jordan type of leadership. Lebron is more of a you can do it man, more personal if that makes sense like a friend trying to help you out. What was that story of Lebron working with Joel until he could catch a pass from him. Back to last game our defense sucked because we were playing UD at freaking center. If Wade wants to get mad at anyone defensively he should look at UD and his own half hearted effort.

WADE is a vet, he ain't got time to mess around.

from ask ira

Q: Why isn't Michael Beasley better at defense? He seems athletic enough to keep up with most at his position. Is it a question of effort or lack of training playing D? -- Erik, Plantation.

A: Every player has strengths and weaknesses, just like certain taller players simply don't rebound for their size. Plus, the Heat's defense is complex and requires multiple adjustments per possession. What's important is Michael recognizes the deficiency, which is why he was so down after Sunday's victory over Toronto, when the Raptors picked him apart in the third quarter. Michael likely will never be a defensive closer for the Heat. But that's fine; they have others to do that job, including Udonis Haslem, who had a big late block on Kyle Lowry.

Exactly meanwhile LeBron is of the Magic mold, Wade is more like Jordan when it comes to leadership. Which is a good thing actually you need someone to hold you accountable, and someone who lifts you up. However Wade doesn´t go to the extremes Jordan & Kobe do.

Some of you should do like me, and realize, that when the playoffs come around (EC finals and Finals) spobot isn't gonna play him any meaningful minutes. When push comes to shove, when the game is on the line, Beasley will be on the bench.

OR inactive! Great prediction right there.
