WNBA Sparks need new owner

Post#1 » by NBAWestFan » Sun Jan 5, 2014 7:44 am

Lakers got the $ to buy Sparks.

Warriors will buy the Sparks or another team or ownership might take them away from
LA.

Buss's could buy the Sparks.

The Sparks belong in LA and would be sad to see them go to another city.

Better marketing and sponsorship can bring more $ to WNBA teams.

Players need to get more exposure to the public.

The Buss family originally owned the Sparks and then sold them off. The WNBA isn't very profitable, that's why teams have folded and NBA owners peeled them off their books as quickly as they could. Surprised the league lasted this long, but it don't have the same leverage as it had when it first started. They had a decent TV deal and it was more teams.

About the only thing good with the WNBA now is that the girls are a lot better looking than when I first started watching in the late 90's.

They made a $10 mil operating loss last season, if a team in LA can't be profitable, I wonder how the league itself is surviving.

That's Key there are better looking girls.

WBA basketball cards.
Promote to elementary, middle schools and high school girls
Run paid clinics for the youth
Play in several locations than just the Staples center.
not everyone want to go to the Staples center to see a WNBA game.
The WNBA can move closer to the fans as the NBA does in the pre-season.
Practice and develop AAU girls charging a fee to teams in the offseason.

There are many opportunities but teams need to be creative and willing to
expand out to keep the league going.

If you had to chose between winning $5 or your hometown WNBA team winning the championship, what would you buy with your $5?
