There a good chance players and fans might get frost bite . Which could lead to amputations .

Yes they should, it sounds like Green Bay could be close to 20 below on Sunday. I don't know what the options are though.

has anybody gotten a amputation from a nfl game to make this a concern? out of all the safety problems league has this must rank pretty damn low.

Has to be pretty serious frostbite to result in an amputation. Fans can and definitely should be very bundled up and they should be fine.

Being active helps out quite a bit for the players, but being out there not being able to wear more than 1-2 layers can be tough in -20 weather.

there are always those crazy people they show in the crowd without shirts, but i mean that is their choice to expose themselves to the elements - the nfl can recommend people dress appropriately but they can't throw people out for not dressing for the weather

This is not the first harsh winter the NFL has experienced. I have never heard of anyone having a limb amputated from going to an NFL game.

The more pressing concern for the NFL is attendance at the actual games. I can't believe there are 50+ thousand people willing to sit out there in the cold (for crazy playoff prices) when 50+ inch HD televisions exist.

With how close some teams were to not selling out I wonder if they have to consider not blacking out home games that don't sell out in the future, especially if its that cold.

After going to the winter classic I have so much more respect for these fans that brave such cold conditions

Players I can understand but isn't it the fans choice to go after all? I mean, you could just sit at home and watch the game instead of going out in 2 degree weather. I know it's not the same but no one's forcing you to be there.

Traditionally, 49er players don't care about having an extremity amputated. Not sure about the fans though.
