I get that a lot of it is the players blowing assignments and/or just not being good enough and that needs to be addressed. But so does the coaching.

Sanders , the defensive coordinator before Capers

And was he ever awful. Look at the jobs he's had since...

Pretty sure Sanders was canned because he didn't get the HC job after Sherman was let go.

I would have been happy with 'right now' Charles Woodson at safety. This defense got no pressure on Kapernick (something Woodson was great at), blew coverages, and had Jarret Bush on the field not keeping contain on arguably the biggest play of the game. Meanwhile TT didn't even approach Charles Woodson for a pay cut. Just flat out released him.

Charles Woodson (right now, at safety) > MD Jennings or Jarrett Bush (and arguably Morgan Burnett)

Absolutely, he might not be the player he once was but he can't be worse than what we trotted out there this year and his leadership on D was sorely missed. He's an all time great Packer and I don't like that Ted let him go so unceremoniously.

We need another Charles Woodson caliber signing on our D, we need somebody that actually can make plays on defense. We had soooooo many dropped INTs this year...

And then the first time he leaves a guy open because he just doesn't have the speed to keep up anymore, the honeymoon would be over and people would remember why he was let go in the first place. Then lots of complaining about why did they waste money keeping him around.

That's the NFL for ya, there were plenty of favre teams that could have easily won another Super Bowl. Starting with losing to the broncos in the Super Bowl then how about the team that got screwed over in san fran when jerry rice fumbled and replay wasn't around. Manning and Luck have only given the colts 1 Super Bowl and both of them look to be headed to the hall...

Aaron rodgers is fit to be this teams OC so just let him take the keys and hire rob ryan as the head coach. He will be a good coach and most importantly will reinvent the D. Mccarthy is a solid coach but rodgers can handle the O, we need a top defensive mind in the head coaches chair.

Obviously you start by approaching him with a pay cut. Again, I'm not blaming the defense for yesterday's loss. Its squarely on McCarthy and the offense. And its not revisionist history to say "why didn't we try to keep Woodson" because many of us were dumfounded we let him go without any real pay cut/reduced role conversation. Its as simple as "is he better than what we saw from the safety position this year?" Easy "yes" for me. And that doesn't even touch on his locker room presence, natural instincts, comfort level with the system, and big play making ability. Sure, he's a step or two slower than prime Woodson. But, IMO, thats still better than the motley crue of safeties who contributed next to nothing this season.

I'm realizing that hall of fame QBs don't guarantee you rings. Just a trip to the playoffs

I think they're talking about DPOY Chuck. We need a playmaker like that

Edit: Maybe you're referring to the "start 2013 chuck at safety" comment. Nvm then

No you are thinking of Jim Bates.

Takes a good defense to win playoff games. Something we barley have had here in 20 years.

Tramon's comments are distressing - ostensibly, they didn't want CK to beat them with his arm, so they let him run. This is the exact opposite of what they should've done, because CK wasn't totally accurate with his passes. It would've made much more sense to limit his running lanes and capitalize on a missed throw (of which he had at least three, IIRC).

And the frustrating thing about it is that when you have a HOF QB like Rodgers and he has weapons like Cobb,Jordy and Jones,I'll even throw Boykin in there and now you have a back like Eddie Lacy all you need is a middle of the pack defense to have a real shot to win the whole thing.

We don't need a top defense like the Seahawks/49ers/Panthers have to be better than those teams.

Honestly, the fact our team was so decimated with injuries has helped me get of this loss quicker than expected. We weren't going to win the Super Bowl this year, so winning the division at Soldier Field is enough for me to be satisfied. Plus, college basketball is getting into full gear and the Bucks are doing what they need to do to get a top pick! :D

I think we could have beat any team besides maybe the Seahawks if we get past the 49ers - thats why I'm the most upset...

I don't know. We were down to Datone Jones at ROLB. I doubt we would have made it past Carolina, who knows. I'm not going to lose sleep over it though.
