I don't understand the theory of "leave enough time to make them punt." You're hoping something goes wrong, but if it does you still have no time to do anything with it.

blocked punts returned for tds happen relatively often in cfb, from the way they rushed the punter i reckon that's what jimbo was banking on

I guess, but how much of a kick in the dick would it be if they blocked it and only recovered rather than scooped and scored.
