You get laugh at when you say that the Suns should offer no more than Indiana's pick and Okafor, and you see Deng trade scenarios involving Goran Dragic and picks, then this happens.
What the Cavs are paying for Deng: L-tax/cap savings, Sacramento's pick (top10 protected next two seasons, else 2ndR), two 2ndRs.
Good move for both sides anyway.

Good deal for the Cavs. It would have maybe made them a legit team in the East if they didn't have an idiotic HC and if Kyrie actually stayed healthy.

The Suns got better deals for Gortat and Scola than Chicago for Deng
It seems that after last year's Dwight/Bynum/Iggy/Redick fiasco teams are reluctant to trade major assets for expirings.

I'd like to see us look at Trevor Ariza if Washington's dealing him. Good 3 & D guy. Tucker, Ish, Kratsov and two 2nd rd picks for Ariza?
He won't cost much to resign after this year either and is a veteran who has championship experience as he started and played a key role on a title winning team.
Kyle Singler is another guy I like but I don't know if Detroit will actually trade him.

A little different circumstance though. A huge part of this deal was Chicago wanting to cut Bynum and get under the tax avoiding the repeater penalty.

Yeah, the best 'asset' for them is getting out of the l-tax and having huge cap space once they amnesty Boozer next summer. Plus improving their 2014 draft, of course.

Re: 2014 Official Suns Free Agent/Trade/Transaction Thread
Edit: This was a response to Gaspar's post, but I guess because of the long post it ended up posting after a few other posts..
There are simply too many teams trying to go young and get rid of expensive vets. It seems like only about half of the teams truly want to compete (throughout their entire organization....obviously all players and hopefully all coaches want to compete).
McD did a VERY good job getting rid of vets as early as he did. The Gortat trade was shrewd in getting a pick before the market got oversaturated. As far as the Scola trade, I looked over every team to see where Scola could fit and I figured Indy was the only possible team do to their perceived lack of bench..and Green's salary was a match...figured we could pry a pick. Little did I know we would also get Plumlee and that both of them would be huge parts in a very competitive team. It might be one of the best trades in the history of the Suns.
The Nance trade may have been better simply because we were the team that was supposedly giving up the star, and we traded him to go younger with KJ, a rookie pg, and then KJ exploded and we went from 27 to 55 wins or something.
Many might mention the Barkley trade as being a great one, but that didn't end up panning out quite as good as we hoped. We made the finals in his first year, but we actually won the exact # of games the four years before we had him as the four years after we got him. And the KJ/Hornacek backcourt got us to the WCF twice before the trade....we only got that far once (with Barkley) after the trade and KJ was never quite the same playing with Barkley who could be fairly ball dominant at times and slow down the pace.

Crazy trade that works salary wise. Noah Thad and turner to suns. Len and Morris twins to bulls, okafor and multiple 1st rders to Philly.
I'm not 100% I'd wan to do it but Suns would have a pretty interesting 9 man rotation.

I would love to see Thibs and Noah's reaction when they learned about the trade.
they might go out and play harder to give their front office the finger. That's my only concern

Who cares, Bulls are a bad team anyway we should be able to beat them.

It would be interesting if we really want to go all in right now. Can Turner shoot the 3 though? With our backcourt, we need good 3 pt shooters at 3-4.
I still hope we can nail some draft picks, and gradually build from the ground up, and watch Horny coach the young guys and let our backcourt get them the ball in the right spots to learn to play the right way, and have a bunch of rookie contracts so we can afford to keep Dragic, Bledsoe and go after one star. That means we would be stacked with a bunch of young guys that could turn into something good AND be cheap.

Suns are 20-12 with current lineup.
You want to tweak it as still have huge cap room next season... They shouldn't go all in and use up that cap space and assets on minimal gains.

Bulls were actually favored before the trade. It got pulled right after...
As for Evan Turner, he's good but needs the ball. I prefer Hayward cause he's athletic and can spot up. Still on the Thadwagon.

For one we had a two day break which is always bad, they are at home, and we don't have bledsoe. They were a two point favorite before the trade for a reason.
people said we should be able to beat memphis too, doesn't mean we will

Suns are 20-12 while the Bulls are 14-18. We still have Dragic so Bledsoe being out isn't a good enough excuse to lose to a 14-18 team if we consider ourselves a good team.
And yes, we should have beat Memphis too. Luckily we aren't gonna be facing Z-Bo when we play the Bulls.

If we are looking for a 3&D guy, i would rather go after Wilson Chandler than Ariza.

If Bulls amnesty Boozer...
What are the chances Suns claim him off waivers?
Suns have cap room, but what's the order of picking him up?
He would fix the interior scoring.... Defense isn't good but offensively he will contribute.

I have heard that Chandler isn't quite the same since coming back from injury. I'm a big Chandler fan too but I have cooled off after hearing that. Plus considering all the criticism that Denver has already gotten for their moves, I don't think they will trade away fan favorite Chandler for anything less than a steal for them. Especially since Gallo is so damn injury prone and Chandler is their insurance for Gallo.
Ariza is the better shooter too though not by much.
PS you are actually still alive? Long time no see. I feel like your post average per week went from like 100 posts a week to like 50 or less after becoming a mod. C'mon we're doing good, post more! Especially in the game day threads.
