Re: PC Board All-Time Fantasy League Project
Well, even if he isn't perceived as highly as the top 5 bigs, I think he was still the best big and the best player available at that time. I'm happy with the pick. Now if I can get the guy I want with my next pick, I'll consider the first 3 rounds to be a success.

I've made three picks in less than three days, the draft seems to be moving at a decent pace.

Re: PC Board All-Time Fantasy League Project
Yeah its a decent pace. I would rather GMs take a few extra hours to pick than have to deal with GMs missing their times. That messes up everything too much.

Giving you guys the heads up, I'm thinking of my pick so it's not going to take long.

not to be a dick but heartbreakkid you really shouldn't post your pick and then edit it. I went in the thread like three minutes after you posted so you changed your mind right away but next time make sure you are willing to stick with your pick before you post it. take the extra half hour or whatever.

I changed it back to my original post.

I've got my eye on one player in particular and I'm praying he doesn't get taken before my pick.
So far my favorite 1-2 punch is probably Payton/Duncan.
You're up.

Re: PC Board All-Time Fantasy League Project
Interesting ... Barkley will have to play SF or Gasol will have to move to C

Re: PC Board All-Time Fantasy League Project
Gasol probably moves to C. But that'll be a huge mismatch if matched up with a big front line.

Re: PC Board All-Time Fantasy League Project
Penny was the guy I was targeting for like 10 picks, really happy that he fell to my lap. He offers me so much versatility as a guy who can play both guard positions with ease. He offers me two important strengths that KD doesn't provide... great passing/floor generalship and a great post-up game. He could also hit the 3 and finish at the rim. The guy was a fantastic player during those few peak seasons. One of the few guys who looked MJ/Pippen in the eyes and didn't blink.
Penny
KD
Ewing
I'm pretty happy with those guys as my first 3 picks.

Re: PC Board All-Time Fantasy League Project
cool themes emerging with some of these teams. heartbreakkid going old school, hibachi going athleticism, etc.
PS I love that I get the top pick three rounds straight. it think it more than makes up for the lack of an elite player since it is a TEAM we are building.
PS trades would be a pretty cool option, not suggesting we implement it or anything though.

I'm already worried that I made a mistake. I figured that the way no one is drafting PGs, some other guys would go and I could nab Penny in the third round. I was so locked in on getting my Piston Grant Hill that I decided I had to get a SF.
Still, I have plenty of time to make up for that. Things are getting interesting. Matrix before many of the scoring forwards of the 80's? Gilmore? A bench piece in Pau? I still have hope my guy will drop to me...

This can go to popular opinion. 2 games isn't too much of a difference. Do people have an opinion on this? If someone is bothered by it, if they themselves have passed on someone because they missed the criteria by 2-3 games, then we'll keep it strictly to 75% (62 games). But if no one has so far been influenced by it during the draft, we can stretch it to 60 games.
Personally I've passed on a player who didn't hit 75 which was why I brought up the 75%.

In that case, we'll keep it strictly 75%.

Re: PC Board All-Time Fantasy League Project
I thought Narigo would take Artis at #32 to form a Bull duo with MJ.
HeartBreakKid assembled an amazing frontcourt with Artis, Karl and Doc.
I think the 0_6 has the best core though, Ewing, Durant and Penny fit extremely well together and all were/are truly awesome players.

Re: PC Board All-Time Fantasy League Project
Ewing Durant Penny really is a ridiculous combo. None are the best at their position, but the combination makes up for any potential mismatches.

Re: PC Board All-Time Fantasy League Project
Oh, and I previously mentioned that I considered two other players with my second pick at #24, both being bigmen, and now I can finally admit that it was Artis and McHale. I'm pretty happy with Zo though, and wouldn't change that.
Gilmore was at his best in the mid-to-late 70s, and obviously we're not allowed to pick players from those times. Taking a tad bit past his prime Gilmore wasn't so appealing to me.

I think Pierce/Hakeem is an amazing fit. I don't think you should worry about picking Pierce over Penny. Pierce is a superior outside shooter to Penny and that's an important aspect when you have Hakeem on the inside just waiting to get doubled.
I was going back and forth with Nash or Ewing as my 2nd pick to pair with Durant. Pretty happy I took Ewing right now.
