S-Jax Signs With Clippers

Free agent forward Stephen Jackson has signed his contract agreement with the Los Angeles Clippers, a league source told RealGM.

Jackson had been working on his deal with the Clippers, and the two sides reached completion on Monday afternoon. Jackson, 35, was waived by the San Antonio Spurs late last season – a tumultuous split that left the 13-year NBA veteran searching the market in free agency.

Jackson is expected to sort out his new situation – including taking a physical exam – within the next couple days, a source said.

Happy to see him get signed. He'll get a chance to play the minutes he wants with all the injury problems the Clippers have on the wing.

Might be a decent move for them. Doc Rivers wont put up with much BS.

I figured he'd make his way back to a roster soon enough - he's too talented to not get the call. But he is old, and has a history of being a distraction on and off the court. The Clippers had enough injury concerns at the wing to go after him.

Doc was quoted as saying he wants a post-3. I thought Stephen Jackson was awesome here in the post when he sees a mismatch. Everytime he sees someone young or smaller guarding him, he just starts getting down there and ask for the ball. And it feels like he scores everytime on those situations.

But when Jackson isn't in the post, I cringe. That slow release doesn't hit the mark often. Even during his early 2000 Spurs days, he's known for making clutch shots, but he struggled making wide open ones. And really he's not as slithery as his old self where he could get to the basket. Now it's either a post up (which is starting to get rare) or stationing himself at the 3 point line (which he often misses).

Biggest value is in his defensive toughness. Stephen Jackson is like Matt Barnes in this regard. Just tough and physical.

He loves taking the corner three. Fortunately for opponents, he is not good at making the corner three.

Probably because he hasn't touched a basketball since we released him.

He's done. Watched him a couple times while he was with the Clippers and he wasn't even playing like a shell of himself he just looked like a scrub.
