LeBron is clearly "trying", but he isn't giving it his all because he doesn't need too.

MVP isn't the best player in the league award, its the Most Valuable Player in the league, and why should the winner of this award be awarded to a player that you say "isn't even trying"?

Your Logic is BSPN worthy.

"Hey Lebron, I know you don't try, and for not trying, we are going to give you the MVP award, because we like how you didn't try. I understand Durant had a better season than you because you didn't try, but we will give it to you anyways because if you tried, you would have been the MVP."

If the MVP was purely about who the best player in the league is then you may as well hand it out in pre-season.

He's not way below LeBron in any case.

I gotta say I'm pretty impressed with Durant's improvement as a passer and defender these past few years. His doubters get proven wrong on a weekly basis, and even though I tend to root for Lebron, I gotta say there's nobody more deserving of the MVP thus far than KD35.

I agree, although the season is far from over and I still think LeBron will take it.

I actually think he forces the other way - I think he likes the idea of filling up a stat sheet and often looks to pass when he could easily score.

The only thing I don't get, is the media seems to be giving Lebron way more love than Durant? Hell even durning the raps game today our announcers were talking about mvp's and kd was nowhere to be mentioned. When was the last time a player playing as well as kd, got this little recognition. I understand years past but at worst kd's played just as good as Lebron this year.

LeBron is getting love cause he's a proven champion and Durant is not. Remember how LeBron was treated by the media in 2009, 2010 or 2011? Don't worry once KD get a MVP award and a championship things will change. Might take a while but I believe he'll get both things during his career, he's too good to not achieve that kind of greatness.

Since Westbrook went down OKC aren't looking that much dominant and this might hurt KD's chances at being MVP despite his great level of play.

There's a reason why Kevin Love is not on the run despite his incredible numbers and KD might go down the same road. Let's see what happens.

So far OKC has still got a great record but if they have 7 or 8 less wins than the Heat by the end of the season there's no doubt it will be a factor.

This is what I was talking about earlier in the thread, about how hard it is to "break through" when you are a No-MVP, No-Titles guy like Durant is currently and you have a Defending BTB MVPs/FMVPs guy around in the picture.

It's not fair, but I think it does affect the perception.

However, as was pointed out a few posts down from yours, there was an ESPN article today saying KD is now ahead of LeBron for the MVP race. So, people's minds will continue to change and update on the situation.

I think OKC is now 5-4 without Westbrook, while Miami is 4-4 without Wade, I believe. That aspect of the contest seems fairly even at this point.

George seems to be fading a bit. He had just 11/2/2 tonight in 28 minutes as Indy beat Toronto.

OKC is 4-3 without Westbrook. I expected that kind of record.

Durant had imo a poor shooting performance. Took way too many threes, took dumb threes all day long and i'm not talking about buzzer beater attempts. But he had 7 rebounds, 5 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocks, ZERO turnovers. Amazing all-round performance

According to NBA.com, Durant turnover rate is down to 9.5, by far his carreer low, playing 10 games off Westbrook, having his carreer high in assists and assist rates. Jesus Chris, Durant is another animal right now.

They're 6-4. Westbrook missed the first two games of the year. OKC went 1-1 in those two games. But he also missed Game #12 against the Jazz, which I had forgotten about.

is it fair to say that bosh is better than Wade this season? If so wouldnt the equivalency of wade missing games is like Ibaka missing games for the Thunder since he is their third best player.

No, Wade has been really good this year when he's played. Arguably the best SG in the game, when counting offense and defense. Avg about 20-5-5-2-0.5
