Charles Barkley mix

Post#1 » by LukasBMW » Wed Jan 8, 2014 5:03 am

Found this on youtube. Enjoyed it immensely. I honestly forgot how good Barkley was in his prime:

This video also made me think:

- The NBA has gotten soft. Barkley couldn't get away with half this stuff in today's game.

- No one plays with this energy anymore.

- Barkley was a "head case" because he played with fire, trash talked, and didn't back down from other players BECAUSE he wanted to win. Today a "head case" is someone who gets a big contact, gets a big head, and is more concerned with their image, bank roll, and car then they are with championships.

He was a 6'6 semi-truck out there. Which coach called him the most athletic specimen he'd ever seen?

I would LOVE to have seen prime Barkley vs Griffin. Barkley would have destroyed him, like abuse on an all time level. Match his athleticism, kill him in strength and sheer ability.

I like Griffin, but my god I've never seen any player flop/over-react like him, ever. He's a target because he reacts the way he does. And he never does it against players who would rip him a new one like Kenyon Martin or Perkins - always against players either smaller or less likely to get into it with him...

Thank you for providing that video. Basketball was in its prime in the 90s. For me personally, 92-95, basketball was the most exciting sport, simply because of Charles Barkley. I still believe to this day (after watching every suns game he played in) he was the best power forward of his time. He was listed at 6-6 but was really 6-4, could shoot with both hands, rebounded better then anyone in history for someone his size, and could do just about anything on the court. He was accused of being a lazy defender yet had to guard the other teams best player many times. Barkley had to guard Hakeem in the playoffs. Also, Barkley use to dominate Karl Malone most of the time(saw it many times). Good luck getting a ticket to a suns game during the barkley years.

92-93 Suns, greatest team to not win a Championship!!

Did you know: The suns almost traded for Dennis Rodman in the 90s. The deal was Richard Dumas for Rodman. deal fell through after dumas came up hot for drugs. Imagine Barkley and Rodman together back then.

During the 90s, half of the suns games were on pay-per-view. I spent alot of money on those pay-per-views, 20 dollars just to watch a game on TV, back then. For you younger guys (in your 20s), you missed a lot of excitement. The Nash years were not even 1/2 as exciting or crazy as the 90s (Barkley, KJ, CC, AInge, Chambers).
I am such a lucky NBA fan. 8647 My favorite team went from the most greedy and racist owner to the most ego driven dumbass owner in all of sports fdt.

Only a fan of Arizona teams!

I agree with you but the ref's would have to be from Barkley's era too. Not the softies we have today.

2nd point. Couldn't agree more. Reminds me of when Bynum took out JJ Barea.
