MCW 1
Giannis 0
Giannis still looks pretty raw but after he adds some weight to his frame and gets used to the game he will be a potential stud. Good to have rookie on rookie competition.
MCW needs to gain a little bit of muscle weight as well. I'm surprised he got up that high!! Dunked it with a lot of power, sounded like one of Iguodala's Sixers dunks..

Re: Rookie impressions thread: PRESEASON/REGULAR SEASON
MCW has deceptive speed. You can see a little hesitation by Giannis and boom MCW bursts by him with his long strides. His length also makes him a pesky defender especially at the PG position. You often now see teams putting their 2 or 3 on MCW now. For example, Batum was guarding MCW couple nights ago.
You could argue he can guard anywhere from 1-3. Not all 3s, but most 1s and 2s definitely. He is only hovering ~40% this season and I think he will finish around 40ish. I hope he can get it up to 45%, but I doubt it will be this season. In the future, once he develops his shooting off the dribble and in general, he will be a difficult task for opposing teams. He already plays the game with a high bball IQ and playmaking ability (courtvision, passing, can create his own shot)
I am excited for the growth of this team with MCW, Noel, and two draft picks this upcoming draft. Hopefully we can unload either Hawes or Turner for a first round pick. I say to the Suns for a package based around the Wizards or Minny pick. Right now we are winning too much and a trade is necessary to for the tank. Trade one of Young, Hawes, or Turner and we are going to start losing fast. I want to keep Thad Young. I think he is playing the best bball of his career and still is a very talented young experienced vet (lol) at only 25 years of age. He's added that 3 point shot to his arsenal and you can tell it opened up his game a lot. He is shooting it at a 40% clip right now too I believe!! On any contending team, you need some hardworking veteran leaders to mix in with the young guns. Thad is perfect because he doesn't need any plays ran for him and generally does most of his damage off great movement without the ball. He isn't selfish and is the ultimate professional. At around 9M, by the way he plays, he earns all 9M of that. Brett Brown has been great for him and Hawes. In the Collins era, both Young and Hawes rarely shot threes, and I wondered why. Maybe long rebounds? Idk, but different coaching philosophies.I mean if the right offer comes along, then sure, but Hinkie is smart and I will trust his decisions at the end of day.
If one or more of: Hawes, Turner, or Young isn't moved by the trade deadline, I will be shocked to say the least.

They're not really shy about using Batum to guard PGs.

How has Oladipo been looking lately? Haven't been able to follow him as much as I would have liked thus far.

Ask the Magic board, lol.
He's looked pretty decent. Had 2 great pg sort of games a few days ago, until JV **** up his minutes for some reason after that, and JV really isn't lending him any help with who he plays with sometimes and the offense in general. H
Other than that, his turnovers are down (as far as bad passes), his shot selection still isn't the best, he shouldn't take that many threes, and he misses rotations sometimes but he still is disruptive on D. I'm still undecided whether he should develop as an off-guard or PG, since he shows flashes at both.

Re: Rookie impressions thread: PRESEASON/REGULAR SEASON
I wish Oladipo had as much free reign as MCW and Burke have. I think he will end up better than both and just wish he was allowed to shoot as many shots as those two.

Really impressed with Oladipo, especially considering the terrible coaching. Seems to be a special talent, I really like his potential as a two way player, and his production even now is really impressive. One of the few correct picks in the top 10. I really look forward to watching him going forward, he seems like a great kid too.
Trust the Process

Giannis and Oladipo look like they are the two best prospects. And I still think Dennis Schroeder can still be the best PG of the class.

Wish Schroeder got more minutes. Is Shelvin Mack that good? Haven't followed the Hawks at all.

Re: Rookie impressions thread: PRESEASON/REGULAR SEASON
i think its going to be really hard to schroeder to break out when that team already has a clear cut pg that they just locked up. atlanta may have to cash in schroeder for extra help later on like the clips had to do with bledsoe

I love Oladipo, but no one is taking ROY from MCW. The guy has free reign and plays the fastest pace in the league.

Imagine Orlando drafting Smart and pairing him up with Dipo.
That would be vicious!
