well for one thing is production is more consistent than the morris brothers or frye. the consistency alone will help offset the damage those teams do to us. I don't know how good of a rebounder young is but he can't be worse than frye or markieff who at times get outmuscled in the post. the only good rebounding big we have is plumlee, len can get there but we can't rely on that just yet

but honestly just knowing night in and night out the guy is going to give is consistent production would be very helpful. The morris bros are becoming like last year where they will give u one good for every 3 or 4 bad or mediocre games. Frye is great at spreading the offense when his shot is on and he isnt completely terrible on defense depending on the match up, but he gets outmuscled too easily when it comes time to rebound and he can't do anything but shoot a jumper on offense.

Its a tricky situation because on one hand we need a stretch big for our offense to work, on the other we need a decent rebounder with some size to help defend the post.

The twins were just setting screens and roaming in the half court while Dragic was doing everything he could. The Bulls played great defense but we made it easy on them with how stationary and sloppy our guys were.

So true. The Marginal Bros are mismatched by long athletic forwards, or big physical ones.
KeifMarg has adapted his game to mask his inefficiencies. His go to moves are a falling back turn around fade away 12 ftr, or a 3ball set shot. Neither match up physically to their prototype forward spots. They are slow of foot and have no handles. When was the last time you saw either of them beat their man down the court or take someone off the dribble? there is more to being a PF than playing tough guy, and more to a SF than a jump shooter.

I was fooled by the early success. They will get their points, have their moments, but I think we are seeing the best they have to offer....and... its marginal. Not bashing, just observing.

its interesting because hornacek wanted markieff to play in the post and not settle for threes and long jumpers like last season. Well that lasted for a week then defenses adjusted and now he just posts up for fade aways from the mid range. I agree with your comments about them never taking their man off the dribble. A tweener at pf should be able to pass the bigger defender but there isnt even an attempt most of the time.

No they're not. And what does that even mean?

I'd disagree. Sure they are trying to save money, but at the expense of a guy who can help them win?
They are certainly aware of the situation. They save money and get no player assets in return. They are worse off without Deng and it will show in the standings.
It could be a perfect storm if they land a top 3 pick.

I think that smacks of media-created tanking hysteria.

Saying they're in full-tank mode is a misrepresentation of their situation and is hardly accurate.

Deng turned down their offer for a contract extension. So Chicago was face with a few very significant realities:

1. They're paying the luxury tax for a losing team.
2. They're going to lose Deng for nothing.

So they made the responsible and smart business decision, while also doing the prudent, competitive move. Deng is not a difference-maker for them this season. They were losing with him and they'll lose without him.

None of the above means that the coach or the players remaining are just going to start laying down for opponents. So while it helps facing an opponent with a recently reduced level of talent, it by no means says that they aren't going to fight you and make you earn the W.

The 3year 30mil offer was lowball. They knew he wouldn't accept it. Chicago is a financially restricting franchise. They hoped he would take a hometown discount but barring a catastrophic injury, he'll get paid well over that by another team.

It's short for Ishmael, which is a pretty standard name in some circles.

I believe 10M per was fair, considering age, game, mileage and health and as long as you don't want to see it under the light of a retribution for past services. Still, if both parties wanted it enough, I think they could have agreed to something like 4/44, with a partial guarantee for the last year as a bonus for the player if he declines by that time.

Now, if Deng wanted four years at something like 13M per or more, I would have had no regrets doing what the Bull did, especially since they can have Butler and will start a new rebuilding project after they amnesty Boozer.

I'll watch the game later, but the loss is not that surprising. The wounded tiger theory and all that.

Reportedly, Deng's camp is looking for $15-16 million per year, which is silly.

I think Deng is worth $10-12 million a year, but $12 million would really be pushing it. The 3 year/$30 million offer was fair. It was great for Deng, but I certainly wouldn't call it lowballing.

15M per is indeed crazy. I wouldn't be surprised if the Cavs paid it, tho.
