Re: PC Board All-Time Fantasy League Project - Discussion Th
Can I just commend the ridiculously high level of drafting that's gone on so far?
People are obviously valuing fit (evidenced by some greats - e.g. Clyde - falling that low) very highly, and reacting (perhaps overreacting - but only time will tell!) to the opposition's moves.
After 2 rounds, I thought O_6 pulled off an epic heist, getting KD/Ewing. He follows that up with Penny, who is probably an even better fit next to Durant than Westbrook. One of the GOAT scorers/offensive players, with 2 great secondary options on offense, backed up peak Ewing's defense? Holy ****.
john248's KAJ/Ray/T-Mac combo looks absolutely ridiculous too. T-Mac obviously isn't Magic as a playmaker, but he's still elite, and makes up for it with his scoring. And prime Ray Allen as the third option, lol.
whitehops intrigued me with CP3/Barkley in the first two rounds, I thought FOR SURE he was going to get a defense-first center (though tbh, I didn't think of Robert Parish until after ardee picked), but with Gasol that seems like a ridiculous offense too.
ardee's Nash/Nowitzki/Parish is pretty scary too, GOAT offensive potential + solid interior defense is going to be tough to beat.
Those're probably the 3-4 that stood out to me. I really like everyone's though, tbh; Bruh Man's insane KG/Pip defensive mobility monster + Reggie Miller gives you like 3 guys with 2nd option caliber offense, plus zero arguments about who takes it in the clutch.
For the love of god, please finish so we can see you guys battle.

ugh, picking a 'defensive anchor' early is such an outdated concept. tons of those can be had later.
thanks for following the draft and giving feedback! hopefully you check back when the teams are mostly done.

That's 85,5% games played per season during that timespan. I certainly think he should qualify.
There was confusion and that's entirely my fault. The rule is 75% each 3 seasons. However, Alonzo is eligible for you since it was my fault that you got confused and you've already drafted him.

Guys, anyone surprised about Drexler going that low? I thought he'd go about 15 spots higher, right there with Pippen. In his prime, he seemed to be a perfect second option for a great bigman.

Oh, I didn't mean that you were necessarily going to pick him in the next round... just that I thought your starting center would be a defensive one.
Or wait... I think I remember something else you said *checks thread*

oh yeah sorry for the confusion. i think most people thought i was going to have a defensive center starting (everyone is doing it!) and i said that gasol isn't necessarily one of my starters...

Yeah, I thought that was it. I didn't mention it here since I thought maybe you'd like that to stay hidden or something haha

I was surprised, as I expressed it already... I was going to take him at #27, and feel pretty confident about it. If Dwight weren't available at that point, it would be Bird/Drexler now.

I still think, he would have been perfect with Hakeem (#31) - see the evidence in 1995 with a well past-prime Drexler, and exciting with Magic (#32).

Re: PC Board All-Time Fantasy League Project - Discussion Th
Drexler's a big name, so it's probably a "holy ****!" moment when ever someone had the chance to take Drexler, but I'm assuming most people came to the same conclusion about him.
I wanted to try to fit him in because if you can harness a big name like that it might influence the judges quite a bit, but by the time I made my pick I had many other players above Glyde.
I dont like Pau Gasol with Charles Barkley at all. I think that's asking to get pounded, but whitehops did say Gasol would be a second unit player. There are def some sleeper bigs in this draft, so I'm curious to see if he's thinking of what I am thinking.

Prime Gasol off the bench would be pretty deadly tho. You will need a defensive centre and I think I know who you're going for, I think it's fairly obvious. I'm surprised at two others forwards who haven't been picked yet, I thought 3rd round was the limit for both. Well they might still be picked.

I'm completely undecided on my next pick(s) so it's not that obvious

That's surprising. In your position, there's only one guy I would be targeting with my next pick, but then again you said defensive anchors aren't your thing.
Edit: never mind you didn't say that. But you said you'll get an anchor later in the draft. That makes sense. I think you might be going after one of the forwards I want to get next, if i had to take a guess.

I said picking a defensive anchor early

you can get any big lug and put him in the middle to slow down the other team. finding an extraordinarily skilled big man who has an above average defensive presence (despite what some people may think) is extremely rare.

I'll be honest, I was trying to predict your drafting but you're throwing me on loops. I have no idea who you're taking next lmao

I wonder where Stephen Curry and Anthony Davis would've been picked if they had any 3 year stretches that were eligible.

curry definitely would be taken pretty high.
speaking of eligibility, where did we land on the wiggle room for games played? from now on 62 games definitely or a game or two of leeway?

No wiggle room. Strictly 75% (62 games) or more.

I was definitely surprised to see Drexler drop so low. He was one of the 3 guys I was really considering for my 3rd pick, although he was the clear 3rd for me.
Penny just seems to fit with Durant a little bit better than Drexler would. But I think Drexler/Durant would've been able to work and been a nasty perimeter combination. Drexler gets made fun of for his dribbling, but he was clearly a gifted ballhandler/passer for a guy of his size.
Isiah/Drexler/Robinson is one of my favorite trios so far. That team would be so fun to watch, just insane potential in the open court.
