Yeah I'm not a huge fan of the system in place either.

Apparently the guy who is very good at predicting the classes said that the only one who will get in this year is Greg Maddux and that a solid half dozen guys will fall off the ballot.

2 way players who were really good on offense and defense should get in before a DH who was greater at hitting than the 2 way player was at anything.
Big Papi evidently failed a test that his name should have never came out for and of course they never told him what the substance was that he failed. He's of course never failed another test. While I'm not naïve enough to say I'm 100% sure he's clean; I'd like to know more on what happened.
I strongly disagree on the second point. I'll vote for the guy with HOF numbers over the guy with very good numbers who was also good in the field. It's the HOF not the hall of very good and that is what Walker was....very good.
7 Gold Gloves puts Walker among the best defensive players of his era
"good" is not good enough when describing Walker's defensive contributions

Why isn't Edgar suspected of using steroids?
His body went through Bagwell-like changes

Is there any proof of Edgar using steroids? Is there any proof of Walker using steroids? I hate that argument so much with baseball. If there is no proof and the numbers are HOF worthy then that player should be going to the HOF. If you don't think Martinez or Bagwell are HOFers that is fine, but work with facts not hypotheticals.

Was MLB even testing for steroids during Edgar's career?
62 career homeruns before the age of 32 (2266 at-bats)
247 homeruns after the age of 32 (4947 at-bats)
He also set his career high in homeruns (37) at the age of 37
It would be naive to think Edgar wasn't a possible user of performance enhancing drugs

Tom Glavine
Frank Thomas
Greg Maddux
That is your Hall of Fame Class of 2014.
Craig Biggio missed the cut at 74.8%, or the equivalent of 1-2 votes.

Re: 2014 MLB Hall of Fame Ballot
I'm guessing since most people had such big drop offs cause of the crowded ballots, I'll guess 4 or maybe 5 get in.
The 3 new starters next year. (Pedro, Johnson, Smoltz) then Biggio, with Piazza having an outside shot

Re: 2014 MLB Hall of Fame Ballot
Pedro and Unit are definite first ballot guys, at least for me, next year. Smoltzy is, too, I'm just worried that people will forget how dominant he was when he moved to the closer role and somehow downgrade him for longevity as a starter.
I just can't believe Biggio didn't get in again. I was baffled that he didn't get in first ballot, especially since he was the best second baseman of the 90s (EDIT) who isn't named Roberto Alomar.

I don't quite understand how Piazza isn't in. Has there ever been definitive proof he's done PEDs? If there hasn't, it's kind of crazy how one of the best offensive players at his position isn't in the Hall Of Fame.

It's because he's gay.
Seriously though, I don't get it either.

Same bs reasons Bagwell's not getting more love, unsubstantiated PED horsesh*t accusations. Same reasons dickweeds like Murray chass didn't vote for Biggio

He's already catching a bunch of flack on Twitter about it, too. Jon Heyman was the first to sound off, but not directly at him.
