Motiejunas?

Post#1 » by broncus2k » Wed Jan 8, 2014 7:25 pm

http://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/23 ... Motiejunas

So it seems the Rockets are looking to move Donatas Motiejunas. He hasn't seen much of playing time recently as he lost his rotation minutes to t-jones.

At 7 ft, ~260 lbs and 23 years of age, I think he is a kind of a player that would fit well with the heat given his range ('can' shoot from the long range) and mobility (not too slow for a 7 footer).

His nba numbers look poor on paper however when given a proper role (I.e. Eurobasket last offseason) he shows a lot of potential to become a solid big in this league.

I know the board is fully ecstatic about bynum atm but he's a type of player we can throw at West etc. and provide valuable 10-15 min spurts off the bench.

Considering the Rockets are gearing up for a mega Asik deal, I think he could be had for a 1st round pick, or less.

Any thoughts?

We have the worst big rotation in the league ATM (bosh and bird can't make up for Joel/haslem/rashard/oden) so I'd take any serviceable big we can get

He's a bonafide scrub not even worth a second rounder.

Oden, Bynum, Hawes or Okafor.

Nobody else is getting minutes here.

I wouldn't go that far on D-Mo, that is definitely an overreaction. He is not a scrub, and right now he is trying to find his way into the nba. The thing is that D-mo brings nothing to the table that we do not already have. D-mo is a poor man's version of Bosh. He doesn't rebound well at all, and he doesn't have his handles. Basically, he might be a slight upgrade over Rashard Lewis. Basically, it would be nice to have him as a 12-15 bench player, but he isn't what we need.

Riley isn't interested in foreign players. (See: Sasha Danilovic)

Have we even traded for a contributing player in the last 3 seasons? All I can think of is Sexy Dexy for that Sanchez bum.

I believe the Heat have tried to deal Joel, but no one wants him. His contract is bad and apparently we can't waive him. AND I think he has a 3mil option next year... lol.

And not only that, he is a sophomore basically with not a lot of playing time. You might as well just get back Pittman on the team.

Joel has a player option for next year which could take and screw the team

He will definitely take it. Doesn't really crew us though. We're going to be way over the cap either way.

If we were to trade for him Joel would be the contract we'd want to send out - salaries don't fit. We'd either need to do a 2-for-1 and cut someone (not likely) or make this part of a 3-way trade to someone with space - at which point we're sending out picks we shouldn't have to for a player we can't really use much this season. As said before, he'd be best used as Bosh's sub, or similar, so he'd be taking minutes off Beasley (who seems to be getting it & fitting in).

I'd rather they went after some type of back-court player (preferably a combo SG/SF) with a Joel+JJ/Shard sized salary, and include some picks (Philly 1st + a 2nd or 2).
