Congrats guys, Deng's an awesome player and a likable guy, he should do wonders for your team. As a Bulls fan, I'm really sad to let him go, but there's indirect benefits for us through the draft/finances so I understand the decision.

He'll bring you elite D and perhaps more importantly he's able to provide a lot of scoring for a guy that just 'fits in' to the offense. With creators like Waiters and Irving, Deng should thrive.

And hey! You got him for next to nothing... I'm a bit disappointed we couldn't pry at least 1 legitimate asset off of you in the form of the 14 1st or something like that, but it is what it is. Definitely a win for you guys, hopefully for us as well.

Like other Bulls fans have said, you guys will like Deng.

He is a vocal leader on the court, and in the locker room. He may not be great at anything, but he does everything well and he will just flat out make your team better. Plus he will fit in perfectly with guys like Kyrie and Dion, because he doesn't need the ball in his hand for the entire play to be effective. He will really make your entire lineup click I think. Hi unselfishness should rub off on the other younger players too.

Seeing as you guys didn't give up any of your core player's, and the East being as weak as it is, as long as the team stays healthy, I could see you guys getting the 3rd seed this year.

Another Bull's fan here:

Deng is okay, but I would not sign him to a long term extension at the money he is asking. He's vastly overrated by many Bull's fans and has been for years. That's not to say he hasn't played well, or that he's a bad player. You most definitely upgraded at the position, and got yourselves a fringe All Star for at least this year and possibly a few more.

The problem I have always had with Deng is that he will frustrate you on the fastbreak and in traffic with his ball handling ability (or lack there of). Don't let him lead a fastbreak because it will end up bouncing off somebody's foot or the ball will be thrown out of bounds. However, he normally finishes well if he can make it all the way to the basket, and there's not a shot blocker standing in his way. Will have at least one offensive foul a game from running into somebody because his change of direction sucks.

On defense, he's better than good but not great. Better team defender than individual. Doesn't have great lateral quickness, and doesn't pressure guys into turnovers very often. He does challenge shots well with his length, and he seems to be a very good communicator. No doubt your defense will improve quite a bit with him in the lineup.

Offensively, he's very inconsistent, though this year he has been better in that area. Tends to settle for uncontested long 2's with a foot inside the 3 point line, but does a really nice job playing off the ball with some curl action in the mid range area. Doesn't need the ball to be effective. Jump shot can be erratic at times, but he plays within himself. Very good fit next to Kyrie and Waiters.

His passing and playmaking has gotten better over the years here in Chicago despite his bad ball handling. He's been featured a lot more on offense as a secondary PnR ball handler in Rose's absence and surprisingly has done fairly well. Most of his assists come on reactionary passes in the lane, like when he's coming off of a curl. By no means is he somebody who can be counted on to be a court general, but he'll have a few games where he sneaks in 4-5-6 assists and you don't even realize it.

Stolen from the bulls board.

Cleveland recruit Luol Deng has convinced Australian guard Matthew Dellavedova to give up his number nine jersey.

Delly is a good man.

Any chance Deng plays against Utah?

money is usually exchanged when this happens. Heard about it during one of those tnt crew round table discussions.

Lol I highly doubt Deng would have needed to offer Delly money to persuade him.

maybe not, but its kinda an unspoken rule if you give up your # you get some financial retribution in return. At least that is they way i understood it coming from the tnt crew.

If this does happen i wonder how much Lebron would have given Chalmers.

For some reason I did not think that a player could change numbers mid season.

Obviously Deng would be able to given that he's changing teams, but its a little strange that Delly was allowed to. I certainly thought it wasn't allowed - at least not back when LeBron announced switching from #23. I guess the NBA isn't too worried about the flood of Delly gear that will now have to hit the discount racks.

Wasn't there an announcement a day or two ago about Dellavedova jerseys and shirts now being available?

Funny that the jersey already displays #8 even though the description states #9.

Oh ya Deng definitely had to pay him off. But since Delly makes min wage - 25k probably did the trick.

I wonder if fans who purchase Delly's #9 jersey would get to swap (for free) for his new jersey. I know I'd be damned if I bought a rookie's jersey and he switched number less than three months later.
