Jason Kidd Looks Toward Mark Jackson As 'My Role Model'

Post#1 » by RealGM Wiretap » Thu Jan 9, 2014 5:31 am

Jason Kidd and Mark Jackson both shared supportive words before Wednesday's game between the Brooklyn Nets and Golden State Warriors.

Kidd is a rookie coach straight out of his NBA career and says he looks toward Mark Jackson as "my role model." Jackson became the Warriors' head coach after a long broadcasting career.

“He’s gone from playing to being a head coach and being a very good head coach,” Kidd said. “I’ve talked to him throughout the season.

"Hopefully  I can become a coach like him.”

You want to become the guy who says John Stockton wasn't a great shooter.....Yet Jackson loves Jason Kidd, who was a 40% shooter over his career, and Stockton was a 51% FG shooter, with 13.1 ppg over 19 years, making Playoffs every year of his career.....

How about Jason Kidd turn to Hornacek if he wants to know how to be a coach, because Mark Jackson is just another proto-child of the great Jerry Sloan era....and Jackson being a bench PG to John Stockton in his 19th year....

Well it seems he is improving, or it may just be a flash in the pan.

If you want to become a non-disaster like Mark Jackson, how about you listen to your asst coaches instead of firing them.

anybody who thought jason kidd should be fired/was a bad coach is a flat out idiot.

Williams and Lopez have been hurt literally all year. Their two best players.

you cant be a top point guard of all time and a bad coach.

things dont work that way.

Explain Magic Johnson and Isiah Thomas then.

Lawrence Frank played Andre Drummond as little as humanly possible, it's a wonder he was even able to get a high-profile assistant job.

Not saying Lawrence Frank is some great coach. But he is a better coach than Kidd, and there's no Drummond (or other young player particularly deserving of minutes) on the Nets.

Frank was brought in to be defensive coordinator. The Nets are 27th defensively, after ranking 17th last year.

Frank is a marginally better head coach than Jason Kidd is right now, but that's not what he was hired for. He was hired to fill a role, and it wasn't head coach.

The Nets have lost games because of injuries to key players (Deron Williams, Brook Lopez, Andrei Kirilenko) AND the fact that KG and Pierce fell off a cliff in an unprecedented manner. Lawrence Frank would not be squeezing any more blood out of the KG/Pierce stones than Kidd.

Pierce
2013: 19.1 PER, 56 TS% on 27 USG% (33 mpg)
2014: 13.5 PER, 54 TS% on 23 USG% (29 mpg)

KG
2013: 19.2 PER, 54 TS% on 25 USG% (30 mpg)
2014: 11.3 PER, 42 TS% on 19 USG% (22 mpg)

Surely this is all Kidd's fault!

Mark Jackson?

“Everybody has to know who’s in charge, and that’s the head coach,” Jackson said last night before the Nets took on Golden State. “He’s the guy calling the shots.

Lol obviously I meant you. I don't dislike Jkidd at all I just thought it was funny how passionate you are about this. Clearly a big Nets fan or a Jkidd fan. Oh and btw that Mark Jackson's "endorsement" of Jkidd in that quote, if you can even call it that, just said the head coach calls the shots and he's the head coach... What else would he say haha
