I was at the awesome win VS the Warriors with GUESS WHO???

Post#1 » by exculpatory » Thu Jan 9, 2014 8:51 am

3 rows back from center court with my 2 daughters & right behind us - Rod Thorn & Kiki Vandeweghe!!! Man, I sure as hell picked the right game to attend while visiting my girls in the Big Apple!!!

I chatted the former GMs up throughout the game. Rod was especially friendly. Only about 30 years of GM experience between the two of them!!! Rod loves Steph - knows Del Curry very well. He was impressed by Livingston. Thought Blatche was very active. Thinks KG is still very valuable. Knows Truth still has plenty of excellent game left.

Great great win. 4 game win streak. 4-0 in 2014. Even with no Lopez. Even with no Deron the last 2 wins. Beat the hottest team in the NBA. Down 16 points in Q1 & came back relentlessly. Now 14-21 & tied for the 8 seed - 2 games out of the 6 seed (to avoid Heat & Pacers in the first round) & 3.5 games out of the Atlantic Division lead/4 seed (which also avoids Heat & Pacers in the first round, & provides home court in the first round).

Team D was simply outstanding - the primary reason for this win & this winning streak.

KG played great great great D the whole game & was phenomenal on both ends in Q4. I actually thought he was 'totally done' based on the previous 34 games. Man, I am sooo glad to hopefully be wrong. Double technicals for KG & Lee down the stretch - CLASSIC KG - never stops running his mouth!!!

Joe was brilliant. Multiple clutch makes.

AK-47 is so active, so disruptive defensively, so smart.

Livingston was excellent.

MT with 2 timely 3s & rebounded like a horse.

Blatche was very active & aggressive - although I wanted to smack him when he refused to give the ball up, dribbled full court on a break & turned it over.

Paul was very good in the first half (11 points) on both ends, got into foul trouble early in Q3 & sat almost all of Q3, & did not have a rhythm offensively when he returned in Q4. He deferred to Joe (who was hot), & played aggressive/passionate D on multiple guys - twice literally took the ball out of their hands. 4 dumb TOs - clean it up, Paul. I personally wanted to see him score more - but I love this team win!!!

This is exactly what I have been waiting for since Paul & KG arrived. Maybe, just maybe, Paul will have a chance to 'at least' compete for a second ring after all.

Heatles on Friday & Atlantic Division leading Raptors on Saturday. Get it done!

Sounds awesome!

I'm not expecting a win against the Heat but a win against the Raptors would be nice.

We gotta take the division.

I think the Nets can take the Heat. Think +!

I absolutely think we could get the Division & the 4 seed. Gotta beat Raps every time.

Thanks.

Funny story: On 3/7/2006, I took my girls as teens to a Celtics@Wiz game in DC. Arenas puts Wiz up 1 with 5 seconds to play & graciously flips a double bird at the Celtic bench. As time expires, Paul hits one of his 30 last second, buzzer-beating, 'ISO Joe' game winners with Arenas & Butler draped all over him (I have the You Tube in my favorites, but cannot figure out how to insert it here cause I am a middle-aged IT idiot). I go crazy. My older girl says: "Did something good happen, dad?" My younger girl says: "Stop screaming, dad. You're embarrassing me." Last night was therefore the first time in many years that I have taken them to a game, spending major bucks. As I finish telling this story to Rod Thorn, & we are both laughing, the Nets are coming back from 16 down, & my older girl (now 8 years older in her 20s) says: "Why is the crowd cheering, dad?" Some things never freaking change. LOLOLOLOL.

Cool story bro, would read read again.....for real haha.

But back in 2009 I bought courtside tickets off stubhub for $80, like literally first row on the court behind the basket, and I was actually sitting right next to Rod Thorn. Didn't really talk to him much, but he obliged and took a pic with me and was nice and down to earth from what I could tell.

Did you ask him what he was thinking signing Travis Outlaw to a 5 year 35 million dollar contract?

I did not want to provoke him into asking security to remove me. LOL.

I'd go somewhere in between. She's an above average attractive woman for sure.

Did you tell Rod Thorn how Paul Pierce played the 2nd half of last season? Perhaps you touched upon his heart and elite efficiency as the number 1 option after Rondo went down?
