Re: Jeff Green and Brandon Bass for Greg Monroe and CV
Why does the focus of any Bos/Det trade have to shift to Rondo/Drummond talk?
I purposely did not mention either name in the OP for a reason.

DK-All Day wrote:This was idiotic to say. Please name a All-Star who did not have another all star by his side and while you look that up, look at the Celtics roster and tell me who made the ASG other than Rondo. Rondo was carrying the aging team before he got hurt.
I may have worded it poorly but your just trying to nit pick. The point of troubl post is to mention Rondo's a allstar there increasing his perceived value, i'm merely pointing out that Rondo has benefited from being surrounded by HOF's and that's when Bos had the most success.
Also you mention that Rondo doesn't currently have a allstar by his side, implying he did w the big 3, but then refer to those same allstars as Aging................point is he was surrounded by elite talent. i also mentioned that i don't think he has had a fair chance to prove he can, but i guess you just want to ignore that and nit pick. Since you wnat to ignore the rest of my post, i'm not even going to elaborate , if you want to continue this discussion about 1 sentence in my entire post, feel free to as what i said isn't really debatable as its fact

I just wish both fanbases would move past this lol.
Rajon Rondo is not going to Detroit and Andre Drummond is not going to Boston.
Now back to the original trade idea...

I don't really care for it as a Pistons fan. Also why does Boston want Monroe when Sullinger is starting to look like a Monroe clone on a couple more years of a rookie deal. Boston needs a good young defensive center to pair with sully.

Bumping this over a month later to see if fans have any new thoughts.

Same thoughts. I would get a 3rd team involved to take Monroe to give the Celtics more picks/assets.
Handsome.

Smith and Mitchell for Bass and Green.
Monroe isn't our problem.

Re: Jeff Green and Brandon Bass for Greg Monroe and CV
I think the trade as proposed is pretty close especially if Boston feels like Monroe is someone to build around.
Green would be a better team fit, allowing Smith to slide to the 4, even if Monroe is a better player
The main issue I see is the extra year Detroit is taking on for Bass. Charlie V is in his last year, so the contract is no longer the disaster it was a year or two ago.
Maybe add a contract Detroit would like to lose (Jerobko) for a young asset on a small dollar deal (Sullinger) and it balances it out.
Green, Bass, Sullinger
for
Monroe, Charlie V, Jerobko
still works in the trade machine
and forget about fantasy land with adding Rondo, Smith, etc. You know Boston is not giving Rondo up without a king's return in young stars or high draft picks. And Detroit would look like idiots trading Jennings or Smith less than a year after signing them. Just from a PR standpoint with future free agents, Detroit needs to let those contract play out another year plus before even thinking of shipping them out.

Yeah, every Detroit fan tried to replace Monroe with Smith but then you change the entire trade and Boston is no longer interested.

Fair enough.
How about adding Wallace to the equation??
Smith, Mitchell and CV for Green, Wallace and Bass??

You might have something there, though I can't see why Detroit would do this. Really bad PR to dump a player this close to signing as a free agent. How are you ever going to recruit another one
Bos could possibly even flip Smith to Houston for Asik and filler - wasn't there rumors of Smith and Dwight wanting to play together, but HOU didn't have cap room
DET IN - Wallace, Green, Bass
DET OUT - Smith, Mitchell, CV
BOS IN - Asik, Motiejunes, Mitchell, CV
BOS Out - Wallace, Green, Bass
HOU IN - Smith
HOU OUT - Asik, Motiejunes
could maybe even add a small piece from HOU to DET (Brewer or Smith maybe - probably not Jones, Garcia or Casspi)

In reality detroit isn't trading Smith. I just hate watching him play and he's ruining our team so i would love to get rid of him.
even if Dumars felt the same, nothing would happen until at least the offseason.

I wanted Jeff Green originally but I think it's clear now Monroe is the better player so I will pass.

Now now, you guys.
My only request was not to mention either player.
Please ignore any post referring to either player and it will not continue.
Now back to the OP...
