well if want your head coach to turn your qb into andy dalton, you have lower standards than i do.

dalton actually didn't improve from last year, his accuracy is down and interceptions are up, they are just heaving the ball up more often knowing they have a very talented wr corp which inflates dalton's stats. redskins don't have that receiving talent.

Andy Dalton had over 4000 yards passing and 33 TDs last year. He improved his passing yards, TDs, and Y/A, while having a slightly less(.4%)compeltion %. His INTs went up by 4, but considering he threw 6 more TDs and 600 more yards, I can live with that.

I don't think Gruden "turned his QB into Andy Dalton". I think he took a marginally talented QB and squeezed out every drop of potential he could. I am excited to see what he can do with RG3. We don't have an AJ Green but PIerre Garcon, Jordan Reed, and Alfred Morris is a nice corps of building block skill players to work with. I do agree we don't have the #2-4 WR options the Bengals have, but those guys were all mid round draft picks so you gotta give Gruden credit for being able to coach them up.

The Lions and Whiz had a split over defense. Whiz wanted to implement a base 3-4 with a lot of hybrid looks. Lions mgt, which is still intact, strongly believes the existing 4-3 talent is good enough to be great and didn't want to set back the schedule by overhauling.

This wasn't the only reason Whiz isn't in DET but it was a definite sticking point.

I'd rather have Caldwell than Mike Munchak. Still holding out delusional hope that Brian Billick will swoop in and save the day.

as an offensive coach i am surprised whisenhunt is that hell bent over defensive scheme. lions could've hired a defensive coordinator that specializes in 4-3 to make it work.

Word around here is that we're holding out for Gase. Haslam has more power in the coaching search this season and has a relationship with the Manning family. The feeling is that Gase has been interested in the job and may interview during the extended break before the Super Bowl (unless the Broncos lose this weekend). A few outlets around here believe he has been the top target all along.
