Trades we can make to get more athletic

Post#1 » by RSCD3_ » Sun Jan 12, 2014 9:00 pm

A minor problem ( relative ) this year seems to be that because our roster relies so much on veterans when he used to be more of a fast break team and it seems were trapping the pick and roll less intensely.

So what kind of athletic young players could be bring in to be a spark plug off the bench , a great defender, or athletic project and what kind of deals could be made without sacraficing too much?

Unless we draft amazing no one. We don't have the cap space to pay that sort of player more than likely.

should have dropped JJ or (never picked up) Mason for Ennis, if it weren't for Ennis's handles i bet he would be on this team.

The funny this is, we say this every year. The next funniest thing is, this is the youngest our roster has been imo, with the addition of Beasley. We have a lot of mid 30 year olds though, with Ray being in there at 40. I think it's a nice balance.

I feel like our match ups are worse than our athleticism. Putting Shane on PF's (I know it hasn't happened in awhile, but it shouldn't happen anyway), putting UD at Center, things of that nature don't help at all. We gotta hide our old guys on less threatening people on the opposing team these days.

I do think though Ennis should have been on the team, but I don't think the team thought he would be tearing it up in Australia. He would have been a nice spark off the bench. I hope he makes the team next year.

I agree that the number of vets in the rotation is one of the reasons why our energy is often a problem.

And I don't think this has been the case every year (since 2010). Since 2010 out core group has aged (Wade, LeBron, Bosh, UD, Miller) and the new additions to team (with the exception of Cole and Beasley) have all been well into their 30s: Shane, Ray, Lewis, Birdman, Turdbuglar. So I think this year we are suffering from age most notably.

Combine this with Wade's knee problems and this team isn't left with many guys to bring energy on a nightly basis.

To be honest, I don't think this problem can be amended this year. We are too constrained with the roster and payroll. However, I think Pat is aiming for a considerable roster refresh next season when we can dump/trade/amnesty some of our less useful contracts. And refresh through Free Agency, the draft and perhaps Ennis.

Of course, we still have a good chance to win the championship this season. But I expect more inconsistent basketball from the Heat during the regular season.

Guys get older and some get older due to the beating they got over the years..my main fear is battier. He looks so broken right now and its such an important player for us..half the league is tanking or taking bad players..and even with that we cant pack joel..smh rileys biggest mistake..
