2014 Draft Prospects Thread

Post#1 » by Klomp » Mon Jan 13, 2014 10:56 pm

As of today, we would hold picks #13, #41, #43, and #54 in the 2014 NBA Draft.

As everyone knows, if our 1st round pick falls from 14-30, the pick goes to Phoenix.

Who do you like? What positions do you see us addressing?

I'd like to upgrade at SF but we should also consider BPA.

Rodney Hood, Garry Harris, and Wayne Selden are my favs in late lotto.

EDIT: Shabazz is a SF but still remains a mystery for this team. It would be nice to have a legitimate look at him sooner rather than later.

I want the best player available. I'm sick of seeing players we pass on because we need one more, becoming solid players.

I've thought a lot about Glenn Robinson III myself

Virginia vs. Duke playing now on ESPN.

Kansas vs. The Mayor's Iowa State team on afterwards.

I think for what he brings to the table, Muhammad can replicate with development. I think Robinson will be a better defender but Muhammad will be a better offensive player.

Gary Harris seems like a fantastic fit for me. He's gonna become a great 3PT shooter and he is already a great defender. Hope he falls down to our range if we don't make the playoffs.

We still need someone to create for himself however, which is Harris' only flaw I guess, even though he is progressing in that area. James Young looks like he can develop into a go to guy, even though he should take another year in College as the focal point for a Kentucky team that now revolves around Randle.

Imagine if we'd get lucky in the lottery finally and move in to a top 3 spot. Wiggins, Parker or Embiid would be sweet.

As for our second round picks I'm interested in Greek Freak v2, Alex Poythress, Shabazz Napier or PJ Hairston if he falls down to us.

So you want us to take Derrick Williams again?

Fun fact: We are only a half-game closer to the playoffs than we are to the number 7 pick.

I don't necessarily want to tank, but I feel like its something to look forward to on this board rather than the depressing game threads we seem to have here.

I know.

I think the only position I would hesitate on would be center. I'd still take a C prospect but I'd have to be convinced he would be better than Dieng. Otherwise, we need backups at every position and starters at some so BPA that brings something of need to the table (like ability to create, shot blocking, etc.) would be the way I'd go.

Depends on what happens on the wings. Unless we get a top 10 pick, I'm not sure we need to add another to the glut we already have. If any, I think it'd have to be a natural SG.

Even though he is black I do not want to see us take a euro, no matter how intriguing he is.

I'm just not a fan of taking Europeans within the first 20 picks.

Kind of reminds me of a bigger Wally World/Kyle Korver. I don't see him being anything more than a solid role player off an NBA bench.
