According to media reports, the Detroit Lions have hired Baltimore offensive coordinator Jim Caldwell as the team’s new head coach on Tuesday.
He takes over for former coach Jim Schwartz, who was fired a few weeks ago after Detroit’s disappointing late-season collapse. Caldwell spent the past two seasons with Baltimore following his firing from Indianapolis, where he guided the Colts from 2009 to 2011.
Former Colts head coach and current NBC studio analyst Tony Dungy has publicly campaigned for the Lions to hire Caldwell, who served on Dungy’s staff as an assistant in both Indy and Tampa Bay.
Story still developing.
