celtics become an overnight championship threat with melo and tyson. but i doubt they move all of those picks including a top 3 pick for melo and tyson. while ainge has show that he isn't afraid of making a deal like this before, i just don't think they do that deal on the basis of not wanting to deal with a wiggins in his division for a decade plus, even if that means winning a championship or two in the near future. that's just how the league works.robbie84 wrote:Ok so it's not perfect but something like this on draft night. KNICKS SEND:
-Carmelo (extended contract sign and trade)
-Chandler
-K Mart
BOSTON SENDS:
-2014 third pick (Wiggins or Embid?)
-2014 first round pick in 15-20 range (Brooklyn or Atlantas)
-2015 Clippers first rounder (assumed to be 25-30 if they contend)
-Kelly Olynyk
-Bass (expires 2015)
-Wallace(expires 2016)
-Bogans (expires 2015)
+salary fillers all expired by 2015 season end
-Melo is gone...team is blow up.
-Chandler is gone. (meh well who cares if Melo is gone)
- Olynyk is decent potential starter-The 2014 pick is priceless and the 2014 & 2015 mid-late first rounders are very good.
-Wallace expires in 2016
-Bass expires 2015
Thoughts?
BTW,
Does Celtics line up of
Rondo
SG?(go after Lance Stephenson in RFA)
Jeff Green
Melo -small ball PF (or SF and start Green on bench, Sullinger at PF)
Chandler
Sullinger
K Mart
make a legit threat in the East?
There's some legs to this. The Celtics like to stockpile all of these picks and then cash in, like they did in '08. But I think that top-3 pick is too priceless to let go for Melo. They could include Brooklyn's 2016 first and Marswag instead.

if they got a top three pick, there's no way I'd do that deal unless we'd get that pick. they can hang unto the other ones. a wiggins melo rondo chandler on the same team? we'd never win a championship.

Re: Knicks-Related Trade "THOUGHTS" Thread
Three directions the Knicks can go in my opinion.
1st - Their current path, 2nd round playoff exit ceiling with the possibility of Melo leaving in the offseason.
2nd - May not even be possible with Melo stating he would only consider resigning with both LA teams and Chicago. Clippers dont have a trade that fits unless they are willing to move Griffin. Lakers are in a good position to get a good pick and likely wouldnt trade for him now. Might be able to work something out with Chicago. Trading Melo and Chandler or just Chandler if there is no trade for Melo at the moment and let Melo walk in the offseason or sign and trade him if possible for future assets, stay in the tank for the rest of this season and next since we have our 2015 1st. Add free agents this upcoming period but not enough to hurt the pick, ones that could potentially help in the future or be moved for more future assets during the season. Spend big the following season with Amare and Bargs coming off the books and use all those future assets accumulated.
3rd - May not even be possible but get someone to take Amare and Bargs contract now, use their 2015 1st, 2017 1st, and a player even to entice someone into taking them. Try to find better fitting pieces for now or expirings and use the cleared cap to build around Melo and Chandler properly and ensure Melo resigns.
Knicks management did a real good job of boxing themselves into a corner

Re: Knicks-Related Trade "THOUGHTS" Thread
I personally would go with option 2, start the rebuild now and get bad for the rest of this season and next.
I would offer Melo and Prigioni for Boozer, Dunleavy, Chi 1st 2014, Cha 1st 2014( protected 1-10 2014, 1-8 2015, unprotected 2016) and if possible one more future 1st.
I would then move Chandler and potentially Felton, JR, and Dunleavy. Would be easier with more trade destinations than Melo.
OKC for example would probably love to trade Perkins plus assets for Chandler.

Re: Ynt: Knicks-Related Trade "THOUGHTS" Thread
Why do people think melo has a value.
You cant trade.him now unless he wants it.
He wont resign for next team. He wants ring. So when you send him you should send rockets with harden+howard staying. Or send him clippers without taking paul griffin.
If he leave with trade his next team probably dont.have enough assets to be contender.
So its not easy to trade him.
If he wants to celtics he can go in FA this year or next without losing higg picks of his new team.
So let it drop.
Also finding melo isnt easy for this team. Last 10 years best player for franchise. He got 54 wins to this team. If we can add a legit star like rondo or k.love with him. We would go for championship for sure.
Melo is baller. Some people might say some crap right know but like dirk nowitski, he'll get a ring, and all people start to lick him.
There is 2 people in league can go 1 on1 to lbj and beat him.

Why does anyone think the knicks will trade Anthony under any circumstances unless he states he is leaving ? And why the hell would we go full rebuild this year when we dont even have our freaken pick.

Yeah I don't know why. Unless the Heat is offering Lebron I don't see Dolan approving any trade.

I think Melo career record vs arguably the two best players in the game LeBron and Durant prove that he is our best chance of winning over the next 3-5 years or so.
I think we should do whatever it takes to lock up Melo then finally put together a team that compliments him. Whether that means waiting out the 2014 and optomising our assets for 2015 when we have a 1st round pick and cap space to sign Rondo or Gasol or someone like that.
He really needs that second piece which he never really has had.

Chandler for Verejao + Earl Clark + Memphis #1? Does Cleveland do this, to continue trying to go for a playoff spot?

Re: Knicks-Related Trade "THOUGHTS" Thread
as it is becoming more and more obvious Chandler isn't that important to the overall success of the team. We went on our long run last year without him and we are playing our best without him now.
Ideally if the plan is to resign Melo and wait until we have cap space for 2015. Then we should trade chandler at the deadline. We still would have enough pieces to make the playoffs this year but acquiring future assets that can be used after 2015 is vital since that is when we will be able to land a second star with Melo.

It is odd. I don't know that I'd say K-Mart at the vet min is any less of a player and force for us than Tyson.

I am starting to come around on this as well. Chandler is a great luxury for this team but with our success without him, his own injury/sickness risk, and our lack of assets, trading him this year would probably maximize our flexibility WITH Melo going forward.

agreed.
i don't dislike tyson and I think he is an asset.
but to really maxamize our chances of building the best team around Melo in 2015. Trading Tyson to either rid ourselves of contracts that extend into 2015 (felton or JR) plus maybe add an asset or 2 (picks or young players). It would really improve our chances to build a contender around Melo in 2015.
And we really wouldn't be costing much over the next year and a half since we have proven we can play at a high level without chandler.

Re: Knicks-Related Trade "THOUGHTS" Thread
one more day before JR can be traded. any thoughts on possible trades?
i saw this one on another site:
bucks get JR smith
knicks get delfino, gary neal
bucks get a flashy player that could sell some tickets, while not hurting their tanking effort
knicks get a good guard in neal and a pesky defender in delfino although delfino may be out for the rest of the season with a foot injury. delfino would also be on the books in 2015 but only with half the salary that JR would have.

i think they are. seeing how they really need a defensive anchor.
would be interested to see if the knicks are really tied to chandler. they really need to way the current roster vs the future. We can make the next two years fun and continue to win without tyson and set ourselves up nicely for 2015.
Or we can hope magically we become better then pacers or the heat with our current roster which really wont happen. Tyson is a nice asset and we need to maximize him

No, they'd have to meddle too much with what's working for them just to get the salaries to work. OKC makes the most sense.
Tyson + Aldrich for Perkins + Adams and we're good.
Or anything that includes JR and Felton in the deal is also something we should be looking for.
