If the Bobcats finish the season top-5 in defensive efficiency, there should be a strong case for MKG on NBA All-Defensive Second Team where it'll be a major snub if he isn't voted in

seriously. if we're a top 5 defense, all the credit goes to MKG, Kemba, and our 17mpg Bismack Biyombo. Nobody else on this team is even an above average defender at their position.

Jefferson - well below average defensively
McBob - below
Zeller - below
Tolliver - below (though he's smart on D, just lacks the ability to be a good defender)
CDR - average defensively (probably kind of generous)
Hendo - average defensively
Sessions - below

If we manage to be a top 5 defense with 7 of our 10 rotation players being below or roughly average defenders, SOMEBODY has to get credit and it better be MKG.

Agreed, but I would give Zeller average though, at least he's better than McRoberts

Still below average for now though. He gets tossed around like a rag doll any time the defensive play in question involves contact with a heavier player than Corey Brewer.

Lost in all this is he was 3-12 vs the Knicks. He stopped Melo though so I hate to be a party pooper.

you're not a party pooper as those who watched the game are still excited by his play.

he was super aggressive and played with confidence, he missed some easy bunnies he should have gotten but he kicked started this team. the change from the previous game was night and day.

there was no ignoring his flaws, there was only complete admiration on how he somehow turned this team around.

he was just awesome, no matter what the stats were

He's still not much of a factor on offense and probably never will be. I get how he impacts the game. I saw the energy and his effect on teammates.

His impact on the game was contagious with his energy. We don't win this game without MKG's defense on Melo as evidenced by how the Knicks made a little comeback whenever Tolliver was on him. I know where you're trying to get at that there's no way Kemba get half as much praise from the board on a 3-12 shooting night even if he locked down a prime Iverson and had 10 assist and that's true. Lol. Hell, some people thought Kemba had a lackluster game tonight when he had like 18 points thru the 3rd quarter. Lol. It just is what it is. MKG is one of our most important players and some of us overhype his performances.

Yeah and I'm going to balance that. Big Al and Kemba get slaughtered on a 3-12 night. Kemba becomes a 6th man backup combo guard.

Kemba does alot of little things too that don't show up in the box score.

I feel you. I do the same thing whenever Kemba has a somewhat off game that he still made a impact in defensively.

I understand his offensive limitations, but his 3-12 doesn't bother me after not playing for over a month. That was to be expected considering a lot of his misses were within 6 feet and not used to the contact and having to fight through the trash to score.

I was ready to take notes on MKG guarding Melo before the game started. Should be able to do all of my cutting before the Sixers game starts. So yes, a huge chance of that happening.

You should present this to the general discussion board to give MKG some much needed publicity for his defensive prowess. Sure, there will be doubters & cynics that'll say things like "anybody can shut down Carmelo because he has bad shot selection", but they'll take notice from here on out

For what it's worth, whenever I make these MKG videos, I post them at reddit's NBA page. Everybody loves watching MKG defend over there.

The general board? Sure, I guess I could do that. I haven't been there in a long time though. The reddit community is way more intelligent.
